Huge Igor fan, at 14% of the Salary Cap, we will have learned nothing from being unable to give Hank the team he needed to win a cup. Next thing ya know we are going to lock down Lindgren on an 8 year 7m deal because you know Dan Girardi worked out so well.
The first time I saw Igor play was when he was the Russian goaltender in the annual Canada-Russia Jr. series, which we won't see now because of the ridiculous ban on Russia by the Western politico-corporate criminal cabal. He was 17 at the time. The Canadian team outplayed the Russian team by a wide margin, but Igor was truly spectacular & stole the series. I raved about him then as the best Jr. goalie I had ever seen since Marc-Andre Fleury. His puck tracking ability was like no other I had ever seen. He is, IMO, the best goalie in the NHL at this point. He's definitely worth at least 10 million!
If the Rangers allow Igor to become a Free Agent, it'll end up costing the Rangers a lot. I wonder if these recent lack of signing by Drury the past few years was to free up enough cap space to extend igor to a max value contract. Regardless, if the Rangers don't resign Igor they'll take a step back which with the current Rangers roster, you'd have to consider the Rangers run the past few years a bust if that happens. Igor will probably get a 9.75 to 10.50 million per season. Rangers can't really afford anything other then a type of deal like that.
