Hall of really good. No hardware, no cup, but just over 1000 pts.

At face value, Pavelski’s resume is the same as Claude Giroux’s. 1000pts on its own isn’t enough to be a HoF’er.

Pavs gave a lot to the sport and was truly an impact player. Incredible what he accomplished given where he was drafted. But he just didn’t do enough to be put in the HHOF. That will never take away from his greatness being recognized though.
CasCain
No cup, yes, but two finals appearances, a couple of runs at the conference final, over 1000 career points, and the all-time record for career playoff goals by an American-born player should be enough to get him in if Shea fucking Weber got in.
Shiny_Mew76
These borderline picks really annoy me for some reason. It’s like, I want them to be in the HOF, yet you’ve also got to consider what really defines a HOFer. I wish I could say he deserves it, but I think he either barely makes it, or just misses on it.

I don’t think he should, but I have a feeling he will, based on reputation and longevity.

If Bernie Nicholls who has a lot more points, a lot more goals and a 70 goal season doesn’t get in, I don’t see how Pavelski would.
elcabeza79
Not before Alex Mogilny.
Willing-Bear4862
If Elias and Mogilny can’t get in, there’s no way Pavelski should.
Both have way more on their resume and haven’t gotten snifs.
NArcadia11
He might be the most truly borderline case in the league. If he doesn’t make it, he’s the absolute pinnacle of the Hall of Very Good.
MickGuire
I love the guy to death, but no – hes not a hall of famer by any stretch. I think there are a handful of guys like Joe who were lovable, big hearted leaders that came up clutch in big moments. but without a cup, or any major award, or top 50 in any major stat category aside from PPG(32nd), i dont see it

He got so close to 500 goals. If he had made it, that might have been enough to get him in.
Electrical_Fix7157
Even as a sharks fan, I can’t say he’s HOF material. He’s a very very very, very good player, but the lack of hardware is definitely a concern.
And I don’t mean that you should only get in the Hall of Fame if you have Stanley Cup. There are far more great players who never got one than great ones who do have them. But you also can’t just let anyone in the Hall of Fame. Hopefully he can come back on a staff like Luongo did and get his name on the cup that way.

Great career. I think if he won a Stanley Cup and got to 500 goals we could talk about it. Still wouldn’t be a HOFer but we could talk about it.
As it stands though, no, definitely not and not close enough to warrant discussing.

unfortunately a no for me. really great player and guy but….the stats don’t check out.
not even at the US Hockey or international level, not just NHL. no championships. no mvps. just a few sprinkled in all star teams. not good enough IMO

He will make it eventually. Per PPS he’s right at the border and he has the luxury of leading the cap era in some playoff related stats. Plus he basically is the embodiment of the modern netfront player and was a huge influence to the game.
JERRYBOIZ
Probably going to be like mogilny. Should he be in? Yeah but probably get snubbed because the stats and not touching a cup. His best bet is getting in by the most playoff goals by a American and leadership
JerbearCuddles
Little Joe’s numbers are remarkably similar to Henrik and Daniel Sedins’. The real thing holding Little Joe back isn’t necessarily the lack of a championship imo, it’s the fact he has no major awards under his belt at all. No Selke, no Hart, Ted Lindsay, Art Ross, Richard trophy. He has 1 Silver Medal at the Olympics, but sadly for him the last 2 Olympics we didn’t send NHLers. Hall of very good is quite fitting for him. If he could have had that one major standout year with a big award or a Stanley Cup, he’d probably get in.
Hutch25
No. The hall of fame is for players who change the game and leave a lasting mark on the sport. Sure we will remember him as the great leader and player he is, but with no individual awards, no PPG seasons, and no cups he really doesn’t show HHOF qualifying stats especially being known as a goalscorer while only eclipsing 40 goals once.

Sharks retire his jersey: Yes. 963 games in teal (vs 369 for Dallas), and the greatest ever Sharks draft pick when you consider GP against draft round.
Even if you take out the draft round, he’s *still* the Sharks second greatest draft pick behind Marleau. Thornton is getting his jersey retired by the Sharks this November. Pavs should get his in March/April of this season, IMHO. And IMHO, those are the only three that should be retired by the Sharks. Other names up for consideration should go into a Sharks ring of honor, but not have their number retired.
