I find it so funny how in trying to virtue signal how they're so anti-misogynistic or however you want to phrase the limp wristed, gutlessness of removing cheerleaders/ice girls they're actually taking more jobs away from women because they personally find it demeaning or whatever, neglecting the ice girls own choice or that they might enjoy it.

No, Im all good with NOT having cheerleaders for our hockey team. Id really like if they actually put some real effort into the Ring of Honor that they created in 2017. Its 2024, this team has a long history and you're telling me only 2 people? Them being Dr. John J. McMullen, the Devils’ first owner and Sarge? Thats fucking comical.
The Florida Panthers have a Dance Team. It’s cool for the dancers to do what they enjoy doing but I couldn’t care less if they were dancing at the game or not. Same goes with the NFL or any other sport that has Cheerleading or Dancers. It’s not a knock on them, I’m just there for one reason, to watch a game.
As for the reason the Devils got rid of them, we’ll probably never know. If it was over the fear of lawsuits from fans being pigs, that’s kinda sad for the Dancers. Maybe some security around them would have helped. Maybe it was just money the Devils didn’t want to pay even though they were probably paid in broken game sticks.

I got to participate in the score-o center ice shot game during a retro night (3/17/10 against PIT). I was 22 at the time, same age range as most of the dancers. We had a fun conversation while being escorted around the concourse and down to the ice for about 10 minutes mostly talking about college. Most of them were dance majors or just finishing up school locally. Some ppl we passed were trying to high five me and call me a lucky man lol. Probably in good nature, but with sexual undertones for sure all the same with how it was said. I'm sure the program was stopped for SH reasons. Attractive women in front of drunk men trying to cut loose doesn't have the best track record historically, after all. There's usually someone that makes it weird eventually.

Eh, I just don't see dance teams working in hockey like they do in other sports. It probably can but most times it just feels awkward at the very least. If the org wants to sponsor a dance team outside of games, cool, but during games I'm fine with keeping it to the Woo Crew and the Ice Girls.
Dancers, Goal Song and the Diablos fan section all gone around the same time. A lot changed after Vanderbeek lost the team. Bring them all back.
The Panthers still have a dance team but it doesn’t give the same vibe the CHEERLEADERS did back then!

I love how Jersey-born Bon Jovi’s song was playing in the video you took! I don’t listen to ANY music from 1990 onward and I feel like the oldest soul! I can’t imagine how FUN it was to be a teen/young adult in the 70s and 80s!
The reason why I feel an increased connection to Jersey is because my dad’s late friend (RIP Gary Biernacki), lived in New Jersey from his BIRTH until he was 33, before moving down to Florida in 1985; he played football at Rutgers and was a NJ state trooper!
Also, one of my BEST friends I met at college last fall, Sid, had lived ALL over Southeast Asia as a child since his dad’s job kept moving. He then IMMIGRATED to the US the summer before his Freshman year of HS and attended Livingston High! Even though he is FULL Indian, his voice and personality is that of a VINTAGE Jersey man!
One of my friends roommates at another college, who I became close with as well was BORN and RAISED in West Orange, NJ!
My best friend’s dad was born and raised in NJ!

Great stuff Ace… As an aside, I was looking at the roster and specifically the forwards. iMO i would like to see Fitzy go after one more bottom 6 player to replace the loss of McLeod. I believe I found that person NICO STRUM from San Jose. A 6'3" 210 body who is around 60% winning FO player. If we had Strum, Cotter and Lazar on that 4th line, I think that would killer😊
I was indifferent to the dancers. We have some real neanderthals in our midst so it wouldn't surprise me if that is why the dancers were not brought back. I'm sure we have all had our fair share of run-ins with clowns at the arena…in my experience they've all been NJD fans.
I think my fiancé is the reason those girls had their last season….in 2013-2014 we went to a game. She caused us to be late, so as we are walking around the stadium trying to find our section and seats, I am looking through the section entrances to watch the game as I am walking. My fiancé hit me in the head because she saw me looking through the said entrances, and thought I was looking at the girls…when in reality I was trying to watch the game she made us late to. I said to her "I cant even tell you what color hair they have!" She didn't care. Ended up being pissed off at me for the whole night. I just said "sheesh I am leaving you home next game." And thats why I had to stay at a friends house that night..
That being said, here's something I would like to see return: our goal song…you know..Rock and Roll by Gary Glitter..Our goal song sucks. If they cannot use the Gary Glitter song, they should go with Raise Your Hands by Bon Jovi..
