Surprised this is the first post on this honestly and I figured the Mods were filtering this stuff, I understand we are our own subreddit but we clearly hate the Oilers and this shit is actually fucking insane.
It sucks to be an Oiler fan on a good day, so this is extra dicey.
It was pretty shocking how many Flames fans were rooting for the Oilers in the finals because « they’re Canadian ». In the 34 years I’ve lived in the Calgary area I’ve never seen so much Flames fans jump bandwagons.

Looking at the Oilers sub (please nobody go there and be an ass), it doesn’t look like their fanbase is too enthused about this either.

Nah fuck the flames. I was at the December 3rd game last year and two flames fans sat in front of me spent the entire game trying to bait me into a fight.
Edmonton is full of hard drinking, fist fighting, rude types. Not surprised they don’t care about the morality surrounding their team. The word trashy comes to mind…

Unbelievable. Terrible look for the Oilers. I don’t give a shit that the guy has three cups. This reeks of desperation! Gotta do something while McDavid is in his prime right. Doesn’t his contract expire in 2 years? Doubt he’ll leave, even though it’s actually his best chance at winning a cup. They brought McDavid’s agent in to be CEO and his Eerie Otters coach in to be the Oilers head coach. Increasingly feel this org will never win a cup with the best player in the world. Just nuts.
Funny how some industries with sport have ethical coaching and treatment classes and the NHL is still going ‘but they are good at their job!’ In this case, Bowman isn’t even good at his job. 🤦🏻♂️

Bowman hiring proves that the only way people agree to go to Edmonton is if they have literally no other choice. Kane, Perry, Virtanen. List goes on.
This is great news. Despite Scotty Bowman’s reputation, he made some truly bad trades at the end of his reign in Chicago, so maybe he will make some truly bad trades to get the Oilers under the cap giving the Canucks the edge for top spot in the league.
As a fan of both, growing up in Calgary. I approve.
