After the press conference, Bowman has a tough job ahead of him. However, he has changed my mind of him, and my hopes are positive for the Oilers and the league.

  2. Oiler fans are so annoying with the hate for Nurse. We need him! At lower price yes that would be ideal…if you think he’s not valuable to this team then you have no idea about the Oilers. He’s like Nuge, he bleeds oil!

  3. Just a trash hiring. And for what? Is Bowman really that good for inheriting a team that later went on to win the cup?

Seriously, Katz needs to sell the damn team. Time for new blood in Edmonton.

  4. The Oilers were finally putting the "All Drama Every Day Oilers" version of the Oilers team in the rear view mirror. A terrific playoff run, two goals shy of a Stanley Cup championship, a very good off-season so far… and then this. They just had to go there. Who thought this potential wasp's nest of a G.M. hire would be a good idea? Yes, the Oilers have been known for resurrecting numerous careers throughout their years in the NHL. So, I would ask, haven't they done enough of this for the NHL already? What, because of the last glorious three months the team management is afraid the Oilers fans won't have enough to piss and moan about in the upcoming season? I have a news flash for the current Oilers management. The Oilers fans always find something to gripe about. Even back when the Oilers were clearly the best team in the NHL for the last two thirds of the decade of the 80s the fans grumbled and griped. Coffey was getting too much money, then Coffey wasn't getting enough money. Sather needed to fire himself as coach, then Sather needed to fire himself as G.M. Fuhr should be traded, he's a terrible goalie, he'll never get close to winning a Vezina trophy. Then in the playoffs Fuhr proved to be a clutch goaltender when the team needed him most. On and on it went. Surely there are other potential G.M.s in the league who aren't hauling around all the baggage of a Bowman. Maybe he deserves a second chance but why does it have to be with Edmonton. This team is that close to winning the Stanley Cup. They are arguably better than they were when they were playing in the Stanley Cup final series. If Bowman is going to be that guy that follows team around, while Jeff Jackson makes all the key player personnel decisions, and Bowman is only there to rubber stamp Jackson's decisions, then why not pick someone else without Bowman's baggage. I daresay there are several assistant G.M.s around the league who'd jump st the chance for this role and some of them may be the next Sather or Rutherford or Bowman. Give someone like that a chance to get their name on the Cup. Let Bowman work his way back into the league through an Anaheim or Columbus and earn his way back to the brass ring, not hand it to him on a silver platter. Stan Bowman stands a very real chance of getting his name on the Stanley Cup again in the upcoming season, without really earning it. That is a reward that should not go to this man, regardless of how well he did in his rehabilitation situation. He had full control of his actions and the measures he took as the situation around the Blackhawks blew up. Bowman was not some addict fighting his demons through his addictions, and then fighting the addictions themselves. Bowman exercised criminally bad judgement through conscientious decisions. This man may deserve a second chance but does not deserve having his name on the Stanley Cup again, not until he's served several years to rebuild a chronically struggling franchise into a Cup champion. If he succeeds this way then fine, he deserves to have his name on the Cup another time. This is Stan Bowman making stupid decisions, then doing some penance and then being rewarded by winning the G.M. lottery. I call B.S. on this move. Jackson was doing really well until now. Just as people said a fire hydrant could score 50 goals on Gretzky's wing back in the day; so today I would say a fence post could G.M. this current version of the Oilers to a Stanley Cup championship, knowing that Jackson will be in the background but retaining the final say in all player personnel decisions. Anyone of the Oilers Nation team could be the G.M. of the Oilers under the current circumstances and it's likely this team wouldn't miss a beat so long as you left Knoblach alone to do his job. Two thumbs down to this decision. 👎👎

  5. Very unhappy with this GM choice. When we win the cup in the next couple years we get to be forever associated with him. this sucks

  6. Jeff Jackson saying he's not worried about the fan base reaction is probably the stupidest thing he's said since he joined the Oilers organization. Even if the fans don't figure in on management's decisions, rightly so I'd add, saying what Jackson said was just plain dumb, and terrible optics.

  7. Jeff Jackson you just lost a fan. Bowman should never be in pro sports ever again, what a disgrace to the Oilers organization. disturbing on so many levels. what the hell are you thinking?

  8. I am so glad to not be an Edmonton Oilers Fan. Especially being that they hired Stan Bow.an as the new GM. He is a disgrace and covered up disgusting information. I don't care how long ago it was.

  9. Oilers management just pissed away any good favor they bought with the playoff run. Hiring a guy who covered up sex crimes is so fucked up.

  10. I luv when Canadian teams tell rhe Canadian public to SIT DOWN and SHUT UP 😂

  11. Like everyone else I don't know the details, people do deserve a second chance if they show that they accept their past mistakes acknowledge the wrong and what you are going to do to improve yourself. There is obviously something behind the scenes that we aren't privy to. My issue is why bring in a controversial GM. What we need is a Knobloch type person. We will see.
