A cesspool of stupid.
Uffda, a lot going on in the background. Hey, I have an idea. Let me bring in a coach who doesn't give fuck all about a player bringing a legitimate crime to the table. Fuck that guy, man. And it's Edmonton. Cubanada, where every crime goes unpunished, and the victim is the criminal? He'll fit right in up there!
Who gives the victims a second chance?
My personal opinion is a bit on the libertarian slant. If hes not guilty of a legal, crininal offense and he has successfully served-out the league's punishment, then nobkdy else has the right to actively infringe upon his ability to seek employment in his field of expertise. Every man jas the right to work. Now, that being said, I also believe that fans, advertisers, sponsers and media have the right to take any approach and opinions they see fit. Social punishment can be as effective as criminal punishment. If the fans stop going to games. If the advertisers pull funds. If the media (especially new media) covers the situation on detail, well, I'm confident that the emd result of all of this will take on an accurate shape of justice. If, overall, people think Bowman deserves to be the Oilers GM, then that is fair and reflects what the majority of our society want. Conversely, if the negative reaction reaches a tipping point, the Oilers will let Bowman go, almost guaranteed. I'd rather live in a world where people decide how people.
Also, it's worth noting that the Oilers seem to jave taken on the position of finding competitive edge's via reclamation projects. They're desperate for any advantage they can get it seems the organisation has full-on incorporated the lets-sign-the-screw-up-on-the-cheap and the lets-sign-the-apologetic-narcissist-nobody-else-wants ethos into their operating procedures. They've seen some success with it via Kane and Perry (and a few others, prior, I believe) and so they're out there, busy, combing the league for the next great damaged pick-up. Honestly, if the Oilers weren't currently 💯 on coach Knoblauch, I think we would have just watched Quenville get signed right along side Bowman.
