I am kind of sorry to see where this has gone for him with his huge miscalculation on the market for him. I am not sorry that he way over-valued himself and tried to pry a longer contract out of the Flames when his current history doesn’t really make a call for that. A prove it contract should have been accepted.
Apparently, according to this podcast, he had a 4 year deal somewhere and it fell through and their camp was trying to use that as a leverage and it blew up in their face.
Greedy ass agents. I can’t see shilly doing this on his own accord

I understand wanting to get the most that you can, but obviously he’s overvalued himself

Yeah really dumb decision. No other team will want him. He’s a liability. Unreliable . Hard truth.

Here’s the only way this gets resolved . He fires his agents in a very public way, crawls back to flames management with a sincere apology, and signs a one year deal for more than he’ll get anywhere else.

Nobody forget that Mike god damn Stone was making league minimum on year to year contracts. Obviously that’s a unique situation where I think we should have signed and paid him, but if you’re not nearly as good as Stone was, don’t value yourself so high. I love Shilly but clearly he expected to be handed a contract when he has only played half a season since being back from a 2 year break from playing.

Can’t help but feel bad for the guy, hoping he lands on his feet somewhere. Though have to admit love the idea of a hometown kid like Bean coming in and showing he can be a consistent top 4 guy, a role Kylington would have filled this season.

I’m so disappointed with how this played out. Shilly would have been one more feel-good story for a team that won’t get the feels in the standings. I thought a 1 year prove it deal was a no-brainer. Sucks for him and us

He’ll be signed by October. It just might not be long-term.

This article kind of ignores that the Flames aren’t the same team Kylington was with two seasons ago. Friends gone, cup window closed. Presuming Kylington only cared about money when literally everything is different is kind of obtuse.
If he is fully healthy, Kylington will have no issues at all getting a contract in the NHL. There are a lot of guys in the same boat as him. It’s called the off-season because organizations are off. I doubt Kylington won’t find a good spot.

Honestly, I find the whole thing hilarious. Like I’m glad his mental health is back to where he’s comfortable playing hockey again, but him and/or his agent thinking they were going to get a big day out of Conroy affer he freed up so much cap space for the handful of games he played in a two year span is some *major* audacity given how Conroy has been very clear about not signing long term deals. Pulling that after all the organization did for him I’m his time of healing too no doubt burned bridges as well

I still think Calgary should sign him. You can never have too many defencemen

I had already accepted that his career was probably over so I find it difficult to get worked up over the contract scenario
