If Pavelski isn’t getting in (that seemed to be the general consensus here), then E. Staal certainly won’t either.

  2. Seblaf37

He was a top 5 player at one point I believe. Not sure he makes it though

  3. If it were up to me, bigots wouldn’t be cemented into a hall of fame

  4. KrazyMoose

    Good question!

    Here’s another good question.

    Are you f’n serious?

1k points, 455 goals, stanley cup, olympic gold medal, 6x all star. probably.

the bar should be higher for hof imo but it’s a good enough resume compared to others in.

Pavelski did nothing, no cups, no individual awards, zilch. The hype around him was crazy.

At least Staal won a cup and a gold medal.

Knowing the HoF: Staal will be a first ballot guy while ignoring Mogilny for another 15 years.

  8. ILSmokeItAll

Nope. His career stalled by the time he left Carolina.

  9. Carlo201318

Can he stop trying to put every good player in the Hall of Fame ( all sports) the Hall is for the very best of the best

  10. CrossIceSauce

He belongs in the Hall of Very Good

He will be remembered as a top NHLer in his era but not a HOF. HOF players are outliers statistically. They’re guys that actively changed the game during their time in the league, achieved greatness. Staal is an A player, but he’s in that category with Tavares and Palevski, Where they were huge impact players that were just below the standard of a HoF. Think about some of the recent HoF additions and consider how a player matches to the career of the inductees. Loved Staal’s game but he wasn’t a Jagr, Sakic, Madano, Federov, Foresberg, and so on. Of this last couple decades, the class I would imagine that will be inducted are Crosby Ovy Datsyuk Marchand Malkin Letang toews p.Kane and so on, that caliber of guys Staal doesn’t fit. He’s just below their performances and well below their career impact on the game. And considering the class after that of guys like McDavid MacKinnon Mathew’s Bedard Etc, he’s definitely not in the caliber seen so far for this era. If Staal got the honor, I would expect Tavares Benn and Pavelski to get it and all of them I don’t see it right now, and I’m a huge fan of those guys. I would imagine Parise would get it before Staal, and I’m a bit questioning Parise due to these last 5-8 years in the league.

1300+ games, won the Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold, he has a better case for the hall than others

  13. Penz_YaPigeon

If Kevin Lowe can get in… if Shea Weber can get in….

  14. Secure-Mechanic-4608

only two players left from before 2004 now, Fleury and Burns

  15. Aelderg0th

Hall of Very Good. But not Hall of Fame.

  16. He’s not a Hall of Famer in my books, but there are worse players in the Hall of Fame so he’ll probably get in

  17. luckytaurus

No way he gets in. He’ll be inducted into the Cane’s hall of fame but not the NHL hall of fame

  18. Shiny_Mew76

1K Points, Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold, 6X All Star, 400 Goal Club, Team Captain? That’s gotta be HOF, especially if Shea Weber got in.

  19. Boring_Pace5158

With Staal and Joe Pavelski, we need to take the lockouts and COVID into consideration. Both of these guys are super close to 500, Staal at 455 and Pavelski at 476. If there were no League stoppages, they would have cleared 500, making them guaranteed for the Hall.

  20. IcarusLP

Is going to be in the HOF and does he deserve to are two very different questions

  21. HardOyler

He likely will get in but fuck him and his brothers

  22. ur_sexy_body_double

why not? it’s not like there’s a solid nomination or election process. HHOF is a total crap shoot

  23. Mr_Sausage__

Nope. Very consistent but not one of the best. Only 2 years over 80pts. Hall of Very Good.

  24. Daemonicus33

If John LeClair isn’t in, Eric Staal doesn’t get in. It’s criminal NO ONE talks about John LeClair, but from 1995 to 2000, outside of Jagr, he’s CLEARLY the best winger in the game, overall, with his play and goal scoring ability.

  25. Putthebunnyback

Probably, but I doubt first ballot unless some strings are pulled.
