Rempe becomes 50 goal scorer. Cup locked up.

Yes, the rangers are very good. Run it back.

This team set franchise records last year for wins and points. Despite what Reddit would like us to believe, this is still a damn good roster.

There are the usual suspects who might be an issue going into the year, but we’ve still got a dangerous team that is absolutely going to be a contender.

The game gets very tight during the playoffs. We were missing that one difference maker that would’ve sent us to the finals. The team was good enough to be the best in regular season but playoffs is different.

Yes. So can about 25 other teams.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. « Contender » means what it means.

Maybe. They will need to tweak the philosophy a bit in order to control more of the play at 5v5. Can’t rely on special teams in the playoffs when whistles get swallowed and most teams have an elite PK. Luckily for them they have a great coach but we’ll see, still think they need another good goal scorer and reliable defenseman.

If Laffy and Kakko turn into monsters.

Got to improve our 5v5 play. Mark my words we will never win the Cup with mediocre 5v5 scoring.

I mean, odds are they don’t but they’re definitely a contender. It’s way too early to say for sure until the TDL. They need to change the lines and d pairs though if they want to improve their chances. Miller/Fox needs to happen

  11. It’s possible, just not likely. The Stanley cup is the hardest to win of the 4 major championship

Not enough Canadian born impact players.

Say what you will, but it’s a long standing winning formula.

Last year before we have to pay Igor so this is the end of the current cores window.

I’m just here to keep my 26 day streak going

I love the Rangers but over the past 3 playoff runs this team has shown that when they need a leader most there’s none to be found. There has to be some kind of a shake up. Not a rebuild but a new leader has to emerge, and it looks like it’s going to take a new addition to the roster. Trouba was a horrible choice for captain from the start. Someone needs to lead on the ice.

  16. Anything is possible with Igor. If we win the cup in the next 8 years, it’ll be with like 4 game 7s that we win 1-0.

possible? definitely. any team that makes the playoffs has a chance.

if our stars under perform like usual? unlikely

Since I became a fan all those decades ago, the Rangers have focused on having top of the line goaltending. This is a good thing…except during the cap era. For the last several years, they have been overpaying players who, while good during the regular season, don’t have what it takes to win it all through a more grueling playoff run. This year, they non-chalanted their way to a sweep of the Caps by just enough, but I would argue were outplayed by both the Hurricanes and Panthers, sometimes by a wide margin. If Kreider doesn’t wake up in game 6 against the Canes, I believe they would have blown the 3-0 lead in embarrassing fashion. So, to answer your question, they have no shot this year, unless several of their « stars » learn how to forecheck and play an actual 2 way game. Oh, and maybe a few more defensemen could actually, you know, play defense.
