Kings fans said the same thing when Arvidsson and Doughty was injured when the Oilers faced them 2 seasons ago in the playoffs. There shouldn’t be any excuses come playoff time. Every team goes through some varying degree of adversity. Injuries are part of hockey and it happens. This is why depth is important because injuries are bound to happen.
Just because Vancouver has a consolation story if they lose doesn't mean the Oilers have a blemish if they win. Those are not equivalent. If the Oilers win the cup, nobody is going to remember how they got there
