It's hard to say anything positive about Huberdeau given the largest year over year point drop in NHL history – but I'm still gonna try. I like him. He's clearly a hard worker, a good teammate, and a talented hockey player. I think if he starts to find really good chemistry with even one other player, things might improve quickly.
That being said, if I was a GM I would never sign anyone to more than 5 years – five is an eternity in hockey seasons. I know Treliving was trying to make the best of a bad situation, but he took a big gamble and lost. Cost him his job, hope it doesn't cost us fans another half-decade of pain.

If you can trade Huberdeau and his contract for a 2nd or 3rd rd pick you do it and never look back.. Of course Hubie could blow up elsewhere but we're in rebuild mode
