Take it he doesn’t like the new model of Bauer Supreme skates. Somebody help the kid out.

‘..and then he told me that his skates are two years old and he hates wearing new skates, » Flyers director of player development Riley Armstrong said. « I was like, ‘Well, jeez, let’s get you into some new skates. This could be incredible what you might be able to do.’

Why would new skates benefit him? Other than the fact that his old ones are starting to fall apart, the blades get changed/sharpened regularly what difference would a new boot make?

New skates take a minute to break in, but once broken in, you can see a major change in speed / power transfer / efficiency in your stride.

Old skates that fit like a soft cozy glove feel great – but they at that point have broken in to the point where a lot of their intended performance features have been worn out – like a pair of running shoes that have too many miles

(I’m 37 and started playing hockey when I was 5, through college. Today I still play in my college skates because they are comfy, but people tell me I need new skates so often. There is no ankle support and my skates flop side to side no matter how tighter they are.

I no longer expect to be the fastest or best player on the ice in men’s leagues filled with 20yr olds fresh out of college, have 2 kiddos and also only play here and there – so I don’t invest in new skates….but Jett really should for his situation is a bit more serious than mine)
