I couldn't agree with you more. Dubas by the end of his stay in Toronto became really annoying to listen to of Torontonians because he sounded like a politician, instead of honest like Rutherford was.
The next 3 or 4 years will be a struggle. The team will suck, and then if they do make an effort to go for it in Sid's last year or two, who knows what will happen.
PS I shared the Bruins example with a commentator here once. The bruins missed the playoffs 2 years, then within 3 years after they went to the cup. But those two years they didn't sell the team to 'get younger', they just kept chugging until the right chemistry was found.
I think a rebuild would be the worst, it's hard to have rebuild when you don't have a Sid, or McDavid, or Bedard to rebuild with. Like you shared, find all the examples a rebuild worked without a top tier talent. Penguins don't have one, and don't have one coming. I would give everything to try and win while Crosby's here, I think it will be really tough when he is gone.
As soon as the Steelers season ends, then their fans jump on the band wagon. Then, the Fair Weather fans will start acting like petulant children.
I've seen post 66 and 68. Now it will be 87 and 71. One time, the team was going to move to Kansas City. Mario saved the team twice, and that is why I have been loyal to this team.
Penguins need to start better than "expected," that would provide "hope."
I was born in 1963. Hope i don't die in 2 years. When will we be good enough to expect to win every game, rather than having a challenge to win every game? Right now, there are too many excuses.
Looks like another lackluster season for Pens fans . Pens will end up in the cellar .

Pens are horrible at player development . They will take a young promising player and if he isn't perfect NOW , they trade him for a washed up 40 year old . People are too focused on Sid . Get over it .
