@Sabres de Buffalo

… Enfin?

1. bringing back Lindy is hardly BOLD. It's safe. It's a step back ('wards' and in time). And trading Savoie for McLeod was a terrible deal – Adams got fleeced. The question is whether the versions of Thompson, Tuch, and Couzens are as good as '22/'23, or as bad as '23/'24?

  2. The division is very competitive, regardless of the moves Buffalo made. They're gonna need to hit hard this year to make the playoffs…they can still do it, though!

  3. I just hate the conversation because all it brings is more misery and I feel like it just rubs the salt in the wound for Buffalo fans. I feel like any person whose team isn't in their division wants Buffalo to finally get over the hump, and honestly I'm optimistic even if this is said every year.

  4. honestly I think JJ Peterka was one of the most underrated players in the nhl last season cos he actually picked up 50 points

  5. No chance Buffalo makes the playoff this year. It's too bad because I thought they were going to be a big surprise like the 2022/23 Devils.

  6. I was at the last Sabres home playoff game in 2011. Saw a fight break out in the nosebleeds with Philly fans when the Flyers took the lead. We miss playoff hockey.⚔🦬🏆

  7. The fact they missed the playoffs the year everyone played way out of their leagues 2 years ago shows they aren’t even close to making it this year. They are a roster full of 2nd and 3rd line players and no actual first line stars. Dhalin can only do so much they are facing another rebuild very soon.

  8. Atlantic division is going to a hard road to the playoffs. Before game one you can easily make a case for every one of those teams having a chance to make the playoffs.

  9. I completely agree, but i refuse to allow excitement! Im very NOT a fairweather fan, theyve just been genuinely exciting leading into, and even exciting thru the first month or 2 of several seasons the last 5 or 6 years. I…i just cant anymore.
Dont mistake me, i look forward to how much more intense the success this team will have again someday will be bc weve suffered so long, but ive learned a patience i never knew before!😉

  10. sabres GM is terrible, but he has the owners eating out of the palm of his hand so lucky him! the team will continue to be trash.

  11. This is one of the reason why im against further expansion. Really long playoff droughts

  12. Sabres got so many talents and SO MUCH talent in the AHL i dont understand how are they not a serious contender.

  13. Apathy definitely present for much of the fanbase. Folks generally don't care about Jack as much because he was always just a punk that was never going to lead in the way we needed him to.
It became a bit of a joke, but I don't know many w/ hard feelings towards Reinhart or Montour, O'Reilly etc. Personally looking forward to cheering for Jeff Skinner in the playoffs next year.

Casual fans generally rooted for Okposo but those of us that were tuned in knew that he was a garbage captain that led the team into a dumb spat w/ the fans.

    Genuinely optimistic for the season.

  14. I honestly have no idea how you call him UPL, he has the best name in the league. It just rolls off the tongue so cleanly.

  15. I think Detroit is the team that finally gets back in the playoffs, and Washington is out.

But who knows, maybe NYI is also out and Buffalo can sneak in.

  16. It didn't really end well, but to be fair to Sutter, he brought the Flames to easily their best run in recent memory and might have continued to if Johnny and Chucky stayed.

  17. It's kind of funny how many players go thru Buffalo then go to cup winning teams. Almost makes it a good opportunity to sign 2-3 years there, personally play well enough then get traded to a powerhouse team and have a chance at winning it all b

  18. German here, gotta root for JJ. But honestly, how can you NOT root for the Sabres at this point.

  19. I think Ruff might be the push the Sabres need to get over the hump. Last year there were games where you could really see how much talent the team has and how that enabled them to beat some really good teams. If they can do that in like 10 more games, they can snatch that wild card spot.

The Sabres being a potential wild card team is a hell of an improvement to bottom of the league in 2020.

  20. I mean I feel like the Savoie trade is way too overcritized at this point. There was never going to be roster spot for him at the Sabres considering his height, playstyle and position.

  21. The full effects of the byram trade are yet to be seen. I think he's going to have a huge year

  22. I think they can make the playoffs but they will definitely need to be harder to play against. Then focus on D to eliminate the small mistakes in their zone.

  23. Buffalo has an uphill climb being in the Atlantic division. They will need to exceed expectations while other teams will need to come down off the hill. I am convinced the success of this team will come down to Peterka, Quinn, and Cozens elevating their game and the team in general benefiting from a good power play. They fix that and they will succeed. I feel they will be a tougher, faster, grittier team and that will help galvanize this team that nobody will want to face. The tools are there but there must be improvement from those whose time to shine has come.

  24. its okay to skip a week or two when you don't have content man. the sabres didn't spice anything up get serious

  25. Buffalo has the young core. but do they have the depth players to add to a winning culture. plus, the coach and GM matter so much. do they have any of this?
