I randomly came across the Broadway Hat’s (now dead) Facebook page and thought it would be fun to preserve/share photos from the Hat’s first year.

For those unaware, the Hat started in 2011-12 after Brad Richards came up with the idea that preseason from a [Swedish model the boys met at a Gothenburg club](https://nypost.com/2015/05/17/this-is-the-new-york-rangers-lucky-charm/). The original hat is probably long gone by now, but the boys still use a black one for away games and a fancier white one for home games.

I’ve been keeping track of the Hat winners in a spreadsheet the last two seasons ([2023](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10Kf0CL6uHRBTXLe7wmwl5shti_yfXwShAVK4ETHxJSo/edit?usp=drive_link) and [2024](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z1iWr5hdkGRapd4P74-lZGjFoLwOhMMqJEpsbWdJSCI/edit?usp=drive_link)) and look forward to doing it again next year.

Amazing find. This 11-12 squad was maybe my favorite post-lockout Rangers team. Right up there with 05-06.

The 05-06 team got us back in the playoffs, but the 2012 team felt like real contenders again for the first time in forever
