  1. Broberg will be a top pairing D in Edmonton.

Let Holloway go. Hes a 3rd liner at best in Edmonton. Mat Savoie is better then Holloway anyway.

  2. Oof, I think you have to match the Broberg offer. I am clearly much higher on him than most though. We need him to babysit Nurse too.

  3. Just off load nurse and throw in ceci those 2 cost us the cup keep Broberg and hallow, then go look for another defender go oil

  4. Let Broberg go, STL is stupid for signing an unproven rookie for 4.5 million 😂. Might be able to sign Holloway by giving him what we would have given Broberg.

  5. 31 other GM’s have ZERO respect for Bowman and its already showing, It’s only going to get worse. Best thing you can do is get rid of that coward of a GM your brain dead owner hired.

You watch, its only going to get worse

  6. The teams bent over a barrel with your britches at your ankles. Doug is behind laughing going squeal piggy. I don't see how the Oilers can match. They have Leon's deal that needs to be done by july 1st next year and these guy have 2 year deals for big money. The team is screwed. They're going to lose possible cornerstones on the team for years to come for a 2nd and a third. You would be lucky to get one roster players from those picks and that would probably take three or four years minimum. Armstrong just gutted the team and their cup dreams. If the Oilers lose these guys, the team will be set back years and if they keep them they could lose Leon. Bowman is obviously an enemy of Armstrong.

  7. Should have never signed perry or Ryan to a two year deal… ceci and another player or prospect needs to go asap and the team should force kane's hand.

  8. Well now…… doesn’t that just suck. Guess it should’ve been taken care of sooner. This is a epic fail on management. Not sure how we can afford to keep them now. Their going to have to get creative.

  9. If you have to let one go.. you send Hollywood packing. Broberg took huge strides last year in the playoffs and defense wins cups

  10. Chiarelli is going to cripple the blues like he did in Edmonton by signing Nurse to that outrageous contract, he then got fired right after signing Koskinen to a stupid amount of cash, now he’s probably in on signing an unproven Broberg for a ridiculous amount of money 😂

  11. If the players sign the offer sheet let them go. Oilers are in a self inflicted cap hole and the Blues take full advantage of the situation. Hockey is a business. Thanks for the update Patrick.

  12. Fuk, it's such a loss unless the Oilers match!!!! Oilers GM should have signed them asap. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

  13. Kane doesn't want to do LTIR because they will have to keep him out the regular season to make this all work.

  14. I would keep Bromberg over Holloway, a left side winger and injury prone Easier to replace than a first round defensemen who showed very well on his off side during the playoffs. Can’t see how the oilers can keep both of them

  15. Lets be honest. Holloway was in some ways, kept in the AHL for much longet than he probably needed too. As well as Broberg cause the Oilers were doing well. Both of could have played all year and put themselves in this same spot asking for that per the league on what their stats were. Im sure Holloway would have had 10+ goals and he would be in the same ballpark. Broberg would have had a good showing and a higher ceiling which could have put him easily at 2 million for 2 years.
They are offers that is where they should be for their projected talent.

Oilers cant expect everyone to take the minimum to play in edmonton. Now another team forcing us to pay what er should be. It is what it is.

I have often thought teams keep.players in the AHL to keep their stats low so they can offer them a small raise after the 3 year first contract period is over.

  16. Oilers are gonna get fleeced on any trade they try to do now to bring themselves cap relief to match the offer.

  17. This is why I didnt want to trade our 2025 #1 draft pick. We might have to use our 2026 #1 draft pick to get whatever we need at the deadline now.

Teams that are competing for the cup do not trade #1 draft picks in the offseason. Ugh

  18. To all the Edmonton fans, consider this. In the 1990's Mario Lemieux took a pay cut so the Penguins could be competitive and bring in additional players that would help his team win. He deferred his salary for the good of the team. McDavid and Draisaitl are anchors on payroll. They will not win a Stanley Cup alone but they want to have two players that take up almost 25% of your teams total cap? Hockey is a selfless game. Edmonton will not win a cup paying those two players 20% of the teams cap. Edmonton is in this position because McDavid and Draisaitl want to be paid. But is that worth more than getting their name on the Stanley Cup?

  19. As a friend mentioned to me what hursts the most is the loss of Holloway, Broberg, and McLeod speed. We are going to be a much slower team on the attack and defending the neutral zone. Sign Barrie ASAP for one million and lavoie your our 12 th forward

  20. Let Broberg walk and Hollaway was going to be on the 4th line anyway. You can get someone much cheaper and you do have players in the minors that are ready now to crack the lineup and you have PTO options. If Kane goes on LTIR Then you might have a top 6 issue but then Kane comes back and scores 20 goals on half the season. Oilers are in win now mode. Ceci stays and you still have brown and stetcher on the right side to fill out the team and see if something needs to be done. They had a chance to win a Stanley cup this year and they chose the money which is there right so let them go get the money

  21. Doesn’t happen often because GMs know that what comes around goes around. Too much for Broberg at this point in his career but we’ll see I guess.

  22. This is why the GMs first job was to tender offers to these two, not worry about your all-star who is under contract for another year.

  23. Unexpected? I'd have been astounded if it didn't happen. Why would a team NOT make such offers?? If I'm a GM, (ya I know I'm not), I'd have done the exact same thing. 2 players who you could pick up who you know can play NOW, are just at the start of their skill level, are very young, who's upside is tremendous, and who you could get at a discount. It's a no brainer. I'm only surprised that just the blues had the foresight/ability to make the offers.

  24. I say, sign Broberg using Kane LTIR and activate Kane during playoff. Let Holloway go and get a 3rd round pick. Replace Holloway with Savoie

  25. Funny how real business blows right by the inexperienced and hopeful. Best of luck Oilers. What do the top 2 do now? Nancy of a GM , teams poaching and a tight cap.

  26. In an honest world, you just got swindled. How will the other 30 gms react to a "trade" for your other defensmen. You will not be taken seriously and be low balled. If not, shame on the GM that doesn't take advantage of this as well, unless there is a crazy under the table handshake agreement.

  27. That convo between st Louis and Pittsburgh must've been hilarious… "hey I need you to trade me my 2nd round pick back so I can fuck the oilers new gm"
    "say no more fam"
    Thanks. Hold my beer…

  28. If I really had to choose which one to keep it would be Broberg. Need his skating and puck moving ability on defense. Don't all teams have backup plans for all contingencies, especially one like this? Hard to imagine that someone as sharp as ex-player agent Jeff Jackson would be an exception. But I'd keep Broberg. There's a lot of depth up front, but not so much quality depth on the blue line. He fits in too well with the forward group. They'll be even better with the way he can get them the puck, something that, in my opinion was, and has been a weakness on the team. That's why he replaced Vinnie for much of the playoffs. Vinnie was a fan favorite and was good on the penalty kill, but his skating simply couldn't match Broberg's. I think Broberg is the best skater and puck mover on defense. That includes Bouchard. Right now, lacking better information, which Patrick will surely soon be supplying, I think Broberg will stay and Holloway will go. I think Broberg is much more likely to have a big impact on the team than Holloway. Holloway won't get the playing time that Broberg will. No big opening up front that Holloway would have to fill. He'd probably be on the fourth line. Not the same on defense. Broberg will play a big role. Kane probably on LTIR. Keep Bowman out of it! Put him on LTIR. Let Jeff Jackson handle all the details. Best case scenario is that Jackson will have a trick or two ready to deal with this issue and both of them will stay. Of course, perhaps both of them will stay because the team is close to winning the Cup. Doubt it though. Money talks. Loudly. Patrick, I love the way you present everything and wrap up with "Thanks for being a fan". That's really cool. Like the Oilers version of Walter Cronkite. He used to finish up his broadcast by saying: "And that's the way it is" and add the date. So, thank you for your outstanding videos! Always look forward to watching them. And that's the way it is August 13th 2024.

  29. Fck whatever! Everyone is all the Bowman effect. Blame Ken H for not having them signed to extensions last January.. Broberg is gone and Holloway will stay…

  30. brutal for EDM. They had a good plan to draft and develop them and would expect low experience salaries…. but losing one or both is a real problem…. still some bad contracts; Campbell, Kane, Nurse… really hurts a team that was on the rise.
Kind of a dirty move by StL…. Holloway at $2.3m is not worth it. but a 2nd round pick is nothing in return. Very odd rule.
    They need a good D – as Nurse – Cici – Kulak… all questionable
