I'm a Capitals fan and I knew my team was gonna win the Cup after we finally beat the Penguins to advance to round two. Even after we fell behind in round two against the Lightning I never gave up hope. And actually I was 95% correct on my Stanley Cup Final prediction. My prediction was this. Caps split in Vegas (I was correct) Caps would win games 3 and 4 at home (correct again) and I thought the Caps would lose Game 5 in Vegas, but win the Cup in DC in Game 6 and I'm so glad I was wrong! So proud of my team! #ALLCAPS #ROCKTHERED

As a caps fan in the DC area it’s been amazing this past week.
You summed it up perfectly. Been a caps fan for over 30 years and there were so many 'Here we go again with the same old Caps' moments during the entire Caps run this year. But as many times those moments of doubt started to creep in, the Caps would slay those playoff demons one by one. Hearing all the comments that we were going to choke. Losing both home openers to Columbus, blowing a 2-goal lead late in Game 1 vs the Pens, BEATING THE PENGUINS IN OT IN PITTSBURGH, Losing 3 straight to Tampa Bay after winning the first 2 in Tampa, winning a Game 7 on the road, not blowing a 3-1 lead, beating Fleury, etc. I cried when Game 5 was over, I was satisfied with the Caps beating Pittsburgh, but my brain could not fathom them winning the whole thing. I watched the highlights of that Kuzy OT winner vs the Pens about a 100 times just to make sure it actually happened. So glad they won in Game 5 because I planned a camping trip for the weekend after and it would have sucked having to worry about Game 6. And I never anticipated them to still be playing hockey in June.
This playoff season was by far the best hockey anyone would ever see.

As a Caps fan I must say that, “I’m just in shock that this is happening” is a quote that I cannot relate to then any other comment about the caps winning the stanly cup.

Thank god Ovi wasn't a passenger in the cup win. He legitimately was one of if not the best player on the team. Yes Kuzy had more points but actually scoring the goals is more valuable. He also got a goal in the one goal difference clinching game. That's as good as a GWG. Every goal in a 1 goal win is just as important.

Ovie deserved that conn smythe. He was amazing all playoffs and kuzy was great as well. I think ovie on and off ice and history all taken into considerstion it is 60/40 i favour of Ovechkin. They had to give it to ovie. Messier getting it instead of gretzky in the Oilers first cup win similar, but Messier was a leader unlike kuzy who was just a player.
Caps never need to win again, ovechkin will get 1000 goals and have regular season fun. The cup is far away for the caps. Backstrom is done. Ovie a regular season champ and Carlson a good pts getter. Caps will win the cup again in 15 years or so, with Ovie on the bench.
Seeing the CAPS finally win the cup after years of choking was a beautiful sight to behold. Beating Pittsburgh and Tampa along the way was icing on the cake.
