  1. Love your show boys! Auston Mathhews a great player in the regular season only don’t get me wrong! He’s not a playoff performer and no he’s not the best goal on planet earth only in the regular season only it’s the facts. And yes I am a leafs fan. Guys let me know what I just said and if u agree or disagree? And bring this topic I just mentioned for your next podcast 😊

  2. Makes sense to move the C now. The bigger thing I want to see is a 16 sweater never with an A. If he signs for the same and Willy (or less) we can talk about an A again.
I don’t think the team is in anyway better this year from coach down but I sure as hell won’t be watching Oilers games so go Buds!!
Ps. It sucks when you have the best player in any category. In this case it is goal scoring. From a pro labour perspective he sets the market rate for heIs class. Imo McDavid did the anti labour thing by taking millions less than he’s worth. Conversely Marner taking way more than his worth can be detrimental because management get a boogeyman contract to hold over players to not fight for wha5 they’re worth. Anyway, Shanny had to go years ago

  3. They haven’t won because 4 of the top 8 teams in the entire NHL are all in the same division. Just getting out of the Atlantic is brutal enough. They have lost in game 7 most of the time. A pp goal here, a break there, and they and not Fl, TB or BOS would have won the division in any of those years. It’s that close between them all and those 4 teams are the class of the East, and it makes it the hardest division to win.

Basically, pretty much each playoff but whoever beats the Leafs, except the Columbus year, goes to the cup final. Says just how close they actually are.

  4. The Leafs Core 4 is a mistake, so how could it get any worse? No finals appearance in 57 years and counting so it doesn’t matter.

  5. Ppl need to get off Marners back . With out Marner have the players he plays with don't score. Marner is a playmaker not a player that hits

  6. Nothing's going to change. No stanley cup because they don't want it, they want their pay cheques. Only bum-boys like you two want to win the stanley cup, but you can't because you're not hockey players on a professional nhl team, the toronto maple leafs don't want to win, they want to make a spectacle of themselves.

  7. Player's lie for witch ever team they play for while they are there like look at JT oh i want to stay an islander then leave's jason spezza oh my fmaily are Leafs fan's so happy to be here then leave's with klye dumbas to pittsbrugh max domi ohh montreal is better then Toronto then go's to Toronto i can go om it's just how it is they talk shit to were they at…..

  8. Yeah giving Matthews the C will give him the ability to actually fight for pucks in the corners during the playoffs….and even better it will make his teammates do the same. It’s been medically proven.

  9. I can't see any other club in the NHL making such a huge fuss about this.Currently 6 NHL teams don't even have a Captain. Some for multiple seasons. The Leafs seem to equate Pomp and Ceremony with on ice success.

  10. I like Mathews and im glad he plays for the Leafs, but i agree..he hasn't committed long term to this team yet. All these short term contracts. Why isn't Mo the captain? Atleast he's been here since 2012 and just signed for another 7 years.. Reilly has shed blood, sweat and tears through the good times and bad times..I could see if Auston signed for 7 or 8 years..what are they gonna do if he decides to leave in 4 or 5 years 🤷

  11. Leafs are a joke. The fans accepting this crap has convinced me to drop the team. It helps that the NHL product has never been worse. I can't think of a bigger waste of time and money.

  12. No disrespect but is there really a legitimate reason to be critical of Auston Matthews (who is perhaps the greatest Leafs player ever next to Wendel Clark) if Auston is committed to staying a Leaf regardless whether he signs short-term or long-term contracts? I used to live in Australia when I was young and in AFL, which is way more physical code of football than American football (gridiron), pretty much every player in AFL signs two or three year deals. What Auston is doing is technically an unselfish risk, so the salary cap reason doesn't seem to apply.

  13. ..overpayments and way poor management leave the Leafs in a corner…Mitch has less value than expected..only the Leafs give 11 million to soft playoff useless wibgers…Mathews floating is over..he will be expected to engage physically..not his game.?..had the "core" gone into more corners this B.S. could be avoided..

  14. IT IS A FUCKING PR MOVE!!!! I don’t give a fuck about MATHEWS being the captain!!! IT CHANGES NOTHING!!!

  15. LOL if you think Auston Matthews is captain material you are part of the problem! But then again, The Leafs have no one that's a leader of men! Christ almighty! They don't even have ANY men!

  16. No they didn't. This would've happened 5 years ago if it wasn't for an off ice incident that occurred. So they went with the safe pick which was Tavares. Matthews matured, got more involved with the community and for all intent and purposes has become the face of the franchise. He loves playing in Toronto, he's here for the next 4 years so you know he's going to be the guy, whereas Johnny only has one year left. Granted JT probably resigns and stays in TO FWIW. Also for those saying it doesn't matter about who wears the C in Toronto, it matters, it matters a lot. You're captain for an original six team with such a rich history. It matters. Trust me. Matthews is fully aware of the teams rich history, he knows the honor it comes from wearing the C and knows it's now his responsibility to not only step up his game but to be the leader in the room and on the ice. I also firmly believe Matthews will be a Leaf for life and when all is said and done in his career, he will be the highest scoring Maple Leaf and quite honestly IMO the greatest Maple Leaf of all time. He's once in a generation.

Finally I just hope that if and when the Leafs win the cup, the first person he hands the cup to is JT.
