  1. The Rock is a very nice arena, but the Meadowlands will always be the Devils’ home to me. Nothing can replace the feeling of walking across that bridge in the parking lot and feeling it buzz with the chants of hundreds of fans.

I wouldn’t have believed it until I saw THREE people rollerblading.

Those were the days. I remember them fondly! The walks through the tunnel were the best. I know it’s the past, but seeing all of those banners and retired numbers hanging and it’s still a relatively young franchise brings me pride. I hope this current group gets back there!

If/when we celebrate again, bring it to the meadowlands. More room anyway

  5. That arena was so good. The concourses were too narrow/small and it needed some love, but I’m really surprised they didn’t renovate. I guess the owners were interested in owning their own arena to rake in the concert revenues, etc

I was too young to tailgate for hockey when the Devils were in the Meadowlands, and the only thing I remember about this Cup was all the rumblings about moving to Nashville. I’d definitely appreciate it now, but if they still played there I don’t think I’d be able to go to many games. The Rock is very accessible from NYC, not so much the Meadowlands.

The arena is still there, by the way. We did a weekend at the American Dream mall a couple weeks ago (it was for our foster kids) and the bus to PABT picks up and drops off right in front of it. I don’t know what they do there these days.
