I mean hockey’s the biggest thing in Canada. The majority of this city doesn’t care about the blue jackets if we’re being real. It’s funny he says that because he was actually supposed to make hockey more relevant in Columbus. Good luck in your next locker room Patty

3 guys walk into a bar in Columbus. The OSU backup tackle, a starter on the crew, and Laine.
OSU football player will get 90% attention, crew guy and Laine get 10% (split depending on who it is). Point is, Laine grew up being the big dog then came to Ohio and Learned no one cares about you vs football players.
I bet you most nhl feel that way to be honest

I understand saying positive things about the destination you just got traded too.
Yet, why one would need to take indirect shots at the former city is beyond me. I hope he follows the PLD path of productivity in the next few years

You remember the audio snippet that was played on repeat when Jack Johnson left? Homie came back. These guys are just trying to defend their decision.

Traded player talks nicely about the place he’s been traded to.
Non-story.

If you ever go into a Target, Wal-Mart, etc and go to the sports clothing… it’s all OSU, Browns, Reds, Guardians, Bengals, and Cavaliers. You might find 1-2 CBJ items. This town has a fan base, but it’s nothing like Canada or other hockey towns.

Yeah just wait until he gets to remember how the Canadian press treats players who aren’t living up to their contract or how Montreal fans treat a player who consistently underperforms.

Enjoy getting cornered in a grocery store or restaurant when you’re playing poorly, instead of getting dapped up here basically no matter what. Enjoy that Canadian media too.

Meh its a nothing story but I am just waiting 3 months from now. That fanbase is either going to treat him as a god or want to run him out of town…there will be no inbetween, hell it could swap day to day.

Laine can kick rocks, man. Habs have as many Cups as we have since 2000, and sorry OSU and Crew actually have winning cultures. Idk man, good riddance.

That quote feels like a big pile of nothing. Y’all are reading too much into this

Would’ve preferred a more amicable split, but homeboy went through some shit and is probably reeling.
Bandage is ripped off, time to move on.

Dude remembers what that shitty podcast said about him when he was in the player assistance program. I feel that once that was said, that was it for him. I hate it. I hate that that is what he feels is the representation of this market. But I still get it

Perfect example of how dressing up in nice clothes can’t actually make you classy.
Big_Green_Piccolo
This city has standards the Jackets havent lived up to. The attendance still shows Columbus is a hockey city. We deserve better than Patrik Laine.
doppleganger2621
The thing here is if he doesn’t perform to the point Habs fans think he should, you wanna talk about pressure? Face Canadian media when you’re making $9 mil and not meeting expectations
