  1. I smoke what he is smoking…….lie to yourself……but be careful what you believe…….if Ceci is so bad why were the Oilers paying him 3.25 million…..were they right then or are they right now re: Ceci

  2. If they keep Broberg and don't bring Holloway back the 3rd round pick they used for Ceci gets replaced. They have a replacement player in Podkolzin plus others in the wings in the Bake. Not matching Holloway they also DON'T have to send a guy down. The Kane to LTIR covers it.

  3. The only thing about all of this is no matter how good the player or potential. I dont like any team keeping a player who is actively TRYING to get away from the team that has them. Broberg CLEARLY does NOT want to be an Oiler. So say goodbye! Move on we can and WILL win without him…

  4. Ceci was Crucial in game 7's, scored in game 7 against Canucks and and assisted on only game 7 goal against Florida. For a player who has only 30 games under his belt, will be play in a game 7 let alone get any points.

  5. A " Masterclass " ? The RHD somehow got worse and all in the name of massively overpaying an unproven player who requested a trade AND signed elsewhere . I live in Abbotsford and see Podkolzin regularly and he aint replacing Holloway .

  6. Podz was drafted 10th, Hoglander was drafted 40th? And had 24 goals all at evens and 39 points total. Podz was put next to Lindholm and Garland along with pp time and had two points in 19 games. His icetime dropped because despite trying his best, he wasnt effective at all.

Tochett is more than fair with ice time, age doesnt matter.

  7. They'd be better off not matching either in my opinion, tough spot to be in when you need to resign McDavid and Draisaitl and are up against the cap. I don't think it's wise to let other teams dictate the terms of your contracts. Either way they needed to clear cap space regardless of whether or not they match the offer sheets and looks like they were able to which is a win.

  8. Ceci was solid in game 7’s overall he was not that bad, the too six is solved for now just depends on the depth who stays who goes to stay cap compliant. The lineup hopefully is this opening night

    Hopkins Mcdavid Hyman
    Skinner Draisaitl Arvidsson
    Holloway Henrique Brown
    Janmark Ryan Perry/Podkolzin Savoie

    Ekholm Bouchard
    Nurse Emberson
    Kulak Broberg/Stetcher

    Skinner
    Picard

Lord willing this holds us till trade deadline to get a better Right hand D maybe long shot John Marino or Adam Larsson

Or even a longer shot Two way trade for either Ryan Ellis or Erik Cernak long shots but damn that would put us over

  9. I liked Ceci, loyal and steady player but is getting old. Keep Holloway. Bye bye Broberg, too soft. Still need another stud defenseman. Maybe a solid backup goalie but l like Picard. Got some good up and comers at the farm and draft.

  10. Wonder if they instead just go for a legit TOP 4D RD? Let ember just develop even more ? It’s about 7 million with Kane LTIR

  11. One source suggests Ember’s defensive abilities & growth could render a potential 2nd pairing, shutdown d-man. Knoblauch coached him in Hartford, so that’s a great start, then there’s some of our veterans influence + Coffey & Co.’s abilities to add offensive improvements to their individual blueliners. 👍🏻

  12. I'd waive Perry now and send him to Bako until playoffs.
I'd run a Fourth line of LAVOIE, HOLLOWAY, PODKOLZIN.

And have Ryan as you 13th forward.

    Run: Ek -Bouch
    Nurse – emberson/Broberg
    Kulak- stetcher.
Brown is your 8th and most likely in bako.

  13. You do realize one of the potential waivers needed to clear is Emerson. So Emerson is not better than Ceci. It’s very likely because he already been through waivers. And Ceci, if he plays better, can be traded at trade deadline for a positive asset. 50% retained.

  14. If the Oil match STL offer for Broberg then I believe we’ll be better on defence. Knoblauch may of had a say on Emberson. Thank you STL for making Edmonton better lol when Kane is about set to return the Oil can deal with that problem later, who knows, there may be more injuries by that time.

  15. I thought that Podkolzhin was coming in as a replacement to Holloway at first too. After the Ceci trade I'm more inclined to believe that he gets put on waivers and has his whole salary buried in the A. It looks more like both sheets will be matched.

  16. Broberg and Halloway have both been removed from the Oilers roster on their site. Could mean something, or maybe not.

  17. Well…I know they need help on the defence, but I like Holloway and I sure hope they keep him. He earned another run for the cup.

  18. If I'm interpretting Stauffer's posts properly, we're not bringing back either player. Sad, but true.
