Pourquoi l’échange de Laine a tant de sens

Nous allons analyser cet échange qui voit Patrick Laine quitter les Blue Jackets de Columbus et se rendre aux Canadiens de Montréal.

  1. Kent is a genius. Flipping Harris for a 2nd rounder and potential 40 goal score is masterful.

  2. All we need to do is lock up a starting goalie and this is easily a playoff team. We've got the scoring now, we've got the D, we just need someone on the back end that can give up fewer than 3 goals a game.

  3. I really hope his game picks up in Montreal, I'd hate to see him flop after all that has happened.

  4. CBJ fan here. We love Patty Laine but he's always hurt. Gaudreau is smaller and always plays. I don't see either team in playoffs next year.

  5. If Laine scores 25 goals, fans in Montreal are so desperate for a superstar player they will treat him like a God.

  6. I saw some Habs fan suggesting a line with Patrick Laine, Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky to be one of the biggest line in the NHL.

I don't want to take Slaf off the 1st line with Suzuki and Caufield.

I'd like to see Dach with Laine and Josh Anderson, all three are big and all three need to prove themselves now.

Demidov is not here yet and we're already pushing Newhook and Gallagher out of the top6. Every Habs fan like me are on cloud 9 right now.

Laine has 18 months to prove he is worth 8+M$. My confidence level is at 90% or more.

Also, very glad that we did not go for PLD, I have no confidence in that player, but Laine is exciting, hope he stays healthy. Same for Dach.

  7. Low risk high reward. Worst case scenario we are stuck with a damaged player a year or two. Best case we sign a 50 goals scorer long term.

  8. I'm kinda surprised Cbus got so much for a player who hardly played last year needing to go into the assistance program. Feels like a lot of guys careers have ended who had to do so

  9. Dach and Laine have the potential to be really good together on the 2nd line if both can stay healthy. We saw the positive impact St. Louis had on Caufield, so I'm sure he'll help Laine as well.

  10. "Montreals not in a position to compete"… Holy people, you're forgetting that, once again, we had a bunch of injuries… I think we'll be pushing for a playoff spot this year

  11. Well hes slow lazy and wont help a terrible team… Great signing tho..??? Lol. Ladt place this years habs? Oh i think its more possible niw withbthis guy on your team. Lol. I say 2 and a half weeks before u want his head ❤. Lol. Good luck

  12. Laine is low risk, high reward for the Habs. His biggest challenge will be to stay healthy, if he plays 60+ games that's a dub. Harris is good but unfortunately was the odd d-man out. Love what Habs management is doing, Kent Hughes is a genius.

  13. Laine is a waste of time. He’s going to Montreal to collect a check and not do anything. He’s happy just drawing a check. He’s meh at best. He’s happy to be on a team with no expectations where he can just blend into the background. His attitude and character is his problem. He’s terrible. Him in Montreal fits. Bye Patrick

  14. I think it's basically a good chance for him to prove himself that he's still got it on a team that's giving him that chance. Also the capwages site is basically formatted like capfriendly so a good alternative

  15. With the prospects that the habs have, the 2-3 year mark is probably when they'll look to start their playoff race anyway. They get a couple of years to see how Laine performs during a time where, if he's a hindrance, it's not that relevant. Then when it starts to matter, they can easily move on from him anyway. Conversely, if he's a boon to the club, they can resign. Frankly getting a 2nd out of this while also freeing up a clogged defensive slot? I barely see this as a risk at all. Solid deal by Kent Hughes and company.

  16. They might actually be able to compete this coming season. The Habs lost 27 games by one goal and this is without having Kirby Dach since he tore his ACL in game 2 of the season. Have a healthy Dach, add in Laine and a young core that is only getting better. Suzuki has grown his point totals 4 straight years and Caufield is getting better every year as well. Plus Slafkovsky's breakout year previously. Add in potentially Hutson and Reinbacher in the back line and the Habs can claw back some of those losses they had by one goal.

Montreal could be a dark horse for the playoffs. The only caveat is the goaltending. Can it be what the Habs need to make it that far.

  17. it's a win win for both teams. Columbus gets a young d man and retains 0% of laines salary. As for us, i think it works a little better in our favour. We needed to get rid of a Dman cause we have too many. As much as I didn't want to see Harris go, there had to be a decision made. Also big problem for the Habs was depth scoring, so hopefully Laine is able to help out with that. and if that doesnt work, we still got a 2nd rounder in 26' and even though 8.7 Mil for 2 years is a little steep, its short term. So big Ws for kent and company, as well as for Columbus and Montreal actually having the ability to talk to Laine before making a decision is super generous on Columbus' part.

  18. We just didn't have the right passer for a guy that won't adjust his shot, skate hard, play defense, ….

  19. For me Laine trade has one of the biggest upsides this offseason. Obviously it's a risk, but I'm a believer. I think we haven't seen the peak yet!

  20. "Montreal is not going to be able to compete for the next year or 2"…except they did just that last season until they couldn't keep up because injuries at the mid season-ish point (without Laine)

  21. Just seen another video about this topic… they said the exact opposite, as if this is the worst possible trade the habs coulda made… i agree.. taking on laines full salary is braindead

  22. I think its a win win. The Habs can always trade him next year at the deadline and get even more back. The Jackets needed to get him out and are taking none of contract, giving them great cap flexibility, which a bottom 5 team needs to help build.

  23. Laine will definitely play better in Montreal than Columbus. Hope he's got his health sorted out

  24. They will definitely be better, but the eastern conference has no easy path to the playoffs, the metro will be better than last season,. Stealing a spot from the Panthers, Lightning, Bruins, leafs, Canes, Devils, Rangers, Caps will be near impossible, the Senators and wings aren’t easy to beat teams and take the spot from the Habs.

  25. the habs young talent might inject new life into Laine and if so then Laine will accelerate the Habs rebuild… fantastic deal for the habs coming from a leafs fan
