Broberg played RD in the playoffs. More likely that he's on the 2nd pairing with Nurse than any of the guys you named.
Think about it for one sec , Desharnais played a full season last year with the oilers , who replaced him in the playoffs ? It was Broberg . Ceci and Desharnais both gone , that tells me Broberg is coming a back .
They are going to need lots of cap room, they are letting both go and brought in their replacements. The have three huge contracts due, around forty million, they are going to need to make a lot more cap space. If they match these contracts they are going to have to create a ton of cap space, plus Kane is only going to miss a few months.
Beyond the cap space gain, there's also the whole getting players to buy in to team-friendly contracts to stay a contender, and resign Draisaitl, Bouchard and McDavid for team-friendly deals. Match these overpays, and do the big three still sign team-friendly contracts?

Oilers Roster sheet on their website have deleted Broberg and Holloway…hmmm
Bringing Broberg back is going to be expensive, but if they don't bring him back the D will be very thin with Ceci gone. They'd almost have to bring someone else in.
I'd hate to see Holloway go but the forward group is pretty stacked and they could live without him.
