1. Blues fan, love to see that we got both of these dudes! Also oilersbros, sorry abt that, after losing game 7 of the scf, getting bowman -trash gm, and now this.I fully expect edm to offer sheet some of our guys a few years from now. I remember in 08 when Vancouver offer sheeted backes, I HATED them for that, then they proceeded to own us inthe playoffs when they were super competitive. Anyway love the pickups, obvious overpay for broberg esp, but if he is as good as he was in the playoffs that is massive and we need the d. Also oilers fans, you just were in the scf, I don't feel too bad, esp since they still have to sign 2 (arguably 3) superstars in drai, mcdavid and bouch, respectively

  2. Friedman reported??? 🤣🤣🤣 He repeated the reporting of multiple others, as usual.

Meanwhile, Zac is coping HARDCORE. Just flailing about like a caught fish.

  3. Holloway and Broberg for one second, two threes and Fischer. I would take that trade any day, even at overpaying, teams over pay for free agents every July. The difference is these guys are 24 instead of 30 or 34. The Oilers are going to have close to 40 million of their yearly cap taken up by three players in two years. They are going to have cap problems and difficulties with depth for years.

  4. Dude on the bottom is not getting it at all. There’s literally no downs for the Blues. They have the cap space to overpay for Broberg and if he pans out it’ll look genius. If he doesn’t work out they just go their separate ways in two years. There’s no way to spin this as bad for the Blues in their current situation.

  5. Darnell Nurse, the bearer of the worst contract in hockey was on pace to have the worst playoff performance in the history of hockey before being paired up with Broberg. Nurse, who's now sucked so hard that ~5~ defenceman he was paired with have been sacrificed and scapegoated to try to deflect blame from him. Broberg managed to not only look good with him, but carried him while playing on the wrong side while they were together in the finals. He's worth the gamble by the Blues.

  6. Zac sounds like a hurt Oil fan, can't see anyway this can work well for Blues. As for the relationship between EDM an STL, they made a trade later the same day….

  7. You guys are probably too young to remember how Blues lost Scott Stevens, not to mention Petr Nedved…amazing how much offer-sheeting has changed, and how badly Blues have been sunk by bad GM decisions in past

  8. Zac, this is why Avs have a Cup and Oilers don’t yet…Makar taking 9 mil/year when he could’ve made 12…if Oilers really, really want to win a Cup, then McDavid needs to re-up for 11-12/yr and Draisaitl for 9-10/yr, even though they’re worth more. Otherwise they will remain vulnerable to this type of thing

  9. Bowman handled this situation well. Not matching both offers was a wise move considering necessary cap space needed for extending Leon’s and Bouchard’s contracts next year. Besides, I’m sure they’ve learned from the Nurse contract to not repeat that kind of mistake.

  10. Broberg is a LHD wanting to play his strong side. Edmonton has Nurse, Ekholm, and Kulak in place down the LD side. So Broberg was going to be stuck on his off-side again if he stayed with Edmonton. Broberg is now going to step into a Blues team with 3 RHD in Parayko, Faulk, and Kessel and a coach who likes playing Righties with Lefties. Blues have 1 LHD that looks to be a everyday player in Leddy, Krug is out for the season, and then you have 3 defensemen who are most likely going to cycle through the 3rd LHD spot in P.O. Joseph, Suter, and Perunovich. Blues are going to give him the spot he wants (LHD) and are in a better position than the Oilers to left Broberg grow.

Then add onto it the Blues are fairly well off in Cap. When the next crop of players are ready for new contracts Blues have a ton of Vets and high priced players falling off the books. When Broberg, Holloway, Texier, and Kessel are up for extensions, Blues have Leddy (4M), Saad (4.5M), M. Joseph (3M) all falling off the books then 1 year later Faulk and Krug (6.5M Each) and The year after that Schenn comes off the book. So acting like the Blues are about to head into some crazy Cap Crunch isn't true.
