   This isn’t a very hot take but if Coots is in good form, we get average NHL goaltending, and our defense can take one step forward, we’ll be in the playoff hunt. Out of those three my biggest concern is Coots because that contract is a doozy.

   As is tradition, finishing outside the top end of the draft would be a continued failure for the rebuild.

   That Briere is running it back after last season’s mediocrity just shows he’s totally uncommitted to a rebuild.
