  1. even after all the moves made this summer (which I’ve liked), I still think the biggest question mark is jarry. He needs to put together a consistent year

  2. McGroarty is an absolute stud. He's the power forward, and young leader that this team has been craving. I see him playing with Sid and Rusty.

  3. The key number here is 176. The combined age of the Penguins 5 best players. If Yager is a year behind McGroarty in development, you don't have time to wait for him. 3 years from now when this core is cooked, it won't matter if your best young player is 23 or 22.

  4. Should've done Pickering and a 2nd, I'd even do Blomqvist since we have Murashov on ELC now

Still a good deal though, McGroarty is our Matthew Tkachuk, he's gonna be awesome

  5. I think this is a really good trade for both teams. The Jets have been looking for a 2C solution for a while and the Pens are looking to enhance their aging roster this season.

  6. This trade along with the other moves that have been made make me think this team is going to be a lot better this season.

  7. The problem with how the pens handle their prospects in an unending cycle. In my opinion guys like Accari, Nieto, Eller, should’ve never been signed last offseason. Because of the logjam of older players on 2way deals it forces the pens to not use their youth until injuries happen and ultimately lose the youth players in FA. They literally have nothing to show for in the Kessel trade anymore because they allowed PO to walk because they decided to sign Gryzlck who is an older guy and honestly at this point of his career probably is a downgrade. Young guys don’t thrive in the pens system because they’re given a short leash and are health bombed after a bad game, meanwhile they cater to Malkin turning over the puck and taking bad penalties because he’s earned that right. In my opinion the favor treatment for veterans is why the pens are in this spot.

  8. I'm not sure a guy with no nhl experience should be the favorite for the top lw spot. I think doc starts the year and has earned that. I think you start groarty with less pressure on a lower line and pace him for a full nhl season. If he can handle it, and doc falters, then maybe you can place groarty there. I do like the way your other lines add up.

  9. I've watched alot of Yager videos on the TUBE and he is excellent in the highlights. Yager was my hope. FUTURE DANGER WARNING! When Sid and Geno retire who are going to be Rutger McGroarty's centers? That is when he will demand a trade from a rebuilding basement cellar team with no hope. That is when the Pens will need a new center like Yager who is perfectly timed and was on track to enter the organization when 87/71 retire. Let's watch and see. Hopefully RM rips it up for the Pens.

  10. I would of traded a package of Winnipeg native Owen Pickering, Sam Poulin (bust), and a pick or 1 of the goalie prospects and held on to Yager.
