  1. Seems the Pittsburgh Penguins system is the training ground for every position the NHL.

  2. The Canucks went in a different direction. They hired a pair of old farts! Coach Boudreau will be 67 in 4 weeks. Prez/GM Rutherford will be 73 in 2 months. Both look old and tired. Coach Boudreau looks like he's about to explode or have a heart attack. Are they the best the Canucks could find?

  3. As a Penguins fan let's just say you are screwed Vancouver. Yeah he got us 2 Stanley cups, but he also made some terrible decisions:
    – Signing Brandon Tanev to a terrible contract
    – Sending away Marc Andre Fleury to the Vegas expansion draft
    – Trading Patric Hornquist to the Florida Panthers
    Among other things.

  4. Hired before the outgoing Gm could trade the farm away . Oops he did now it is the blue chip players who are on deck .it may be short term good thing . He will add more team grit credibility to executive suite for sure , but probably will need a younger GM to balance out long in tooth .. the last 30 months have not been kind to Vancouver so a change was needed to refresh this aspect of front office.

  5. Smart move.I see these 2 guys sending this franchise into a new era whilst at the same time, taking the next couple of years to groom the next head coach and GM. The only negatives are the ages of both these guys.the positives far outweigh the negatives.

  6. Great to have a President again. Hopefully the Aquilini’s will let him do the job. Will be interesting to see who the new GM is. Green was a good coach but clearly had lost the room. Boudreau has a great personality and a winning record wherever he has been. Now all we need is for Petey to get his confidence back.

  7. I know you canuck fans dont want to here this , but wasnt it linden who flew down to boston to get benning , then bailed ! He saw benning was a joke , then saved his own reputation

  8. Image that the Canucks continue to do well as they are with Bruce Boudreau, that means Jim Benning did well!

  9. Either remove the background music or turn it down already! We are here for hockey commentary. Not for random heavy rock. Yes we can handle listening to you talking without extra "entertainment".

  10. What’s up with the loud background music? Hard to focus on the conversation. Remove or lower it

  11. You're right Randeep, Rutherford is here for 3 years and his goal is to: 1. Fix holes in the line up, 2. Pick a GM, and 3. Train up some succession for management whether it is Ryan Johnson, the Sedin's or somebody else

  12. Hate him or not care for him, Benning did get us this far. Looking forward to seeing an experienced GM build on what we have so far.

  13. Ryan Johnson? What NHLers has Utica or Abbotsford developed? Joilevi, Gadjovic, and McEwen? Meh, Ryan Johnson doesn't have any track record to brag about, he even let us be controlled by St. Louis' farm team last year when we shared operations.

  14. How do you know when the owner knows less then his fans? When your fans fly a banner over the city telling you to fire a man who did nothing for 8 years in the summer but no he keeps him until 24 games into the season when they are last in their division behind an expansion team and turning two core players into unrecognizable players

  15. I love your guys insights but I am struggling concentrating with the background music's volume. Thank you anyways though xoxo.

  16. This is the kind of boldness Toronto will need to get to the second round.. Maybe a Lou Lamerell….

  17. well i mean we got one of the best coaches available in bruce, and a cup winning gm in rutherford. i like the combo, on paper at least

  18. Expect the Canucks not drafting in the 1st round going forward, expect trades like two first round picks(Barvashev , Sundquist) for Ryan Reeves only two give him away to Vegas for basically nothing months later, expect horrible signings like Jack Johnson (Benning-like signings I guess). Good luck though cause Rutherford has balls, so there’ll be some head scratching.

  19. Great move, Rutherford is what we need… a guy that can instill a winning attitude back into the team! If you look around the league… look at how many bright star young GM’s mentored under him!
