I was happy with Ersson last year. Fedotov, from what I hear, is a pretty good goalie. He got lit up at the end of last season, but there’s always an adjustment period for most coming from the KHL to the NHL.

I don’t know what they gave up to get him but we have a decent amount of promising goalie prospects so I’m fine with that

The Sharks are a perfect team to acquire Askarov. They have most of the major pieces for their rebuild in place, in theory, and they’ll acquire a couple more in the next two years before they start turning a corner.

Unlike us, who still need to address holes at center and the top defensive pair before we start getting all giddy about shopping for a goaltender.

Can’t believe we didn’t trade for a guy we weren’t going to trade for.

I like the trade for both sides. Chrona at the very worst will be a solid 3G option for NSH (and in all likelihood, he’ll be the backup) and Asky has a very good chance to be a starter for SJS, given that they currently have Blackwood and Vanecek as their tandem. The other pieces are just supplemental.

Is this news for us? Like did anyone actually think we were in on him? There was no indication that we even considered it. Just some folks being hopeful

I doubt Askarov was ever on the flyers radar in any real way. He’s super young for a goalie and we have a decent pipeline. We’re also rebuilding. He’d have been shelled to death here. The player is good the timing is not

I posted dealing a first, Brink/Tuomaala, Andrae for him and was told that Farabee just had to be a part of the package. Unreal how low of a package Askarov went for.

What would be an equivalent package from the Flyers?

    Colorado’s first and….?

Good. I’ve been so tired of hearing the stupid trade discussions that we should get him. Dude has proven NOTHING as an NHL goalie yet. Not to mention that overhyped goalie prospects almost never pan out. Anyone remember when Carter Shart was supposed to be the next Carey Price? Dude ended up becoming Brian Elliot with a sexual assault charge. We already have 1 goalie on the roster who as a rookie put up more shutouts then shart did his entire career here, another rookie goalie who was a KHL star and played in the Olympics and 3 more prospects with their own starter potential hype. Would’ve been such a dumb waste of assets.

I just updoot. I don’t askarov of questions.

Basically equivalent of two late firsts and a b prospect, that’s the most a goalie has gone for in years.

I don’t know why you guys wanted him so bad. On our list of needs goalie is pretty far down the list
