what were horvat’s locker room issues?

  2. Epi-Tele

Elias lindholm, dude was awful every game of the regular season besides his first. He was good in playoffs but seems everyone forgets what it was like before that.

  3. ZackyGood

Edler. Damn, that hurt to say. He was the best defenceman we had when our team was at its worst. I respect him for his longevity with the team.

  4. CoedNakedHockey

Just in recent memory, I’m gonna go with Tyler Motte. Like he was fine as a depth forward but the way Canucks fans talked about him you’d think he was the second coming of Bure.

  5. RailroadingFreedom

Markus naslund didn’t do enough for a jersey retirement in my opinion.

  6. thepeak777

    Tyler Myers.
Gonna get hate for it but most of his contract he’s been an AHL star

  7. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpp

There’s a couple guys I shouldn’t mention because I don’t want to see them up on the board

  8. Gnome_de_Plume

Stan Smyl. Wouldn’t even be memorable on any other team, let alone have his number retired.

  9. No_Report_2682

How are we not saying Mark Messier….

  10. Vladimir Krutov. One-third of the USSR’s feared KLM line, he signed here along with Igor Larionov, while Sergei Makarov signed in Calgary. Makarov was great for the Flames and won the Calder (before they changed the rules), Larionov was disappointing but not terrible for the Canucks and went on to have a decent NHL career, while Krutov discovered hot dogs and led the league in fridges emptied and weight gained.

  11. Overrated has got to be Hronek. Until he can prove he can carry a pairing he’s not worth the contract he’s got

  12. Sea-Wash7005

    Fully overrated?

    David booth hands down

« He’s the next piece we need »
    Did bugger all

  13. FreeFour34

Going to get flamed, but, Richard Brodeur.

  14. cbcguy84

Bo Horvat. Had some good years but didn’t do anything notable as captain and didn’t show enough real two way play even though I felt that was touted as a strength of his. That’s said, he was an effective pp bumper.

  15. Hailthezombie

I loved having him here, and I love listening to him on the radio now and then, but for me it was Eddie Lack. He played a prominent role in letting the Canucks move on from both Schneider and Luongo while never actually delivering much in the way of success.

  16. Loui Eriksson was super overrated when we signed him

  17. WetLikeWattta

Motte. I love Motte, but fans made it feel like he was irreplaceable. The guy is a 4th liner, but he did his job very well

I’ve seen this trend in a few threads like this for other teams I follow but people seem to be getting overhyped and overrated confused. David Booth, Mark Messier, Krutov, Ballard were all hyped up prior to arriving but didn’t live up to the hype. They were rightly assessed and derided during their time here.

I’m going to get shit on for this but Trevor Linden is overrated by our fan base for his skill and ability on the ice. I understand why because his leadership, impact on the community, Stanley cup run in 1994 all had a huge impact. But the way he’s rated as a player by Canucks fans you’d think he was a perennial all star. Love the person and love the impact he had on the city, but his skill gets overrated because of that.

I don’t have a name right now but it has to be a backup goalie that stepped in for an injury at one point. Our fanbase goes fucking bonkers when our main goalie is hurt and a backup steps up for a while and wins a couple games.

  20. Yacht_rock_rudder

Kevin weekes “goalie of the future”?

  21. Consistent_Active_28

    L. Erickson. That was a $30,000,000 contract. Not really a question about this contract. By the way. Motte was underrated. If Lou gets that much for his effort then Motte should’ve had 4 million a year. Messier sucks, booth sucks, elder sucks, Murzyn better defenseman then Edler. Erickson definitely wins.

  22. CowboyCanuck24

Gonna catch it for this one… but the Sedin Twins.

Petey already has as many 100 point seasons as them and they weren’t really effective in the playoffs.

  23. saucytopcheddar

Ed Jovanovski… so many turnovers from bad passes up the gut.

  24. Alpacaduck

    Jim Benning.

The fact that most peeps still say Fuck Messier instead of Fuck Benning is proof that somehow FJB is still overrated.

  25. Silver64VW

Gotta go with the third twin, Alex Burrows.

Obviously had some big moments on some of the best Canucks teams, but Ring of Honor?

  26. Judge_Todd

    Mark Messier (as a Canuck)

    Barry Pederson

  27. Alextryingforgrate

OP, think you just add the line of most hated at.the bottom and put Messiers name ther.to.get.that over with.

  28. Btgood52

Kirk McLean, yeah he was phenomenal during the 94 cup run but outside of that he was a very mediocre goalie.

  29. Acid_Cat2

Overrated? Edler and Sopel are at the top of my list.

  30. Brown_Recidivist

Loui Eriksson hands down. They signed him with high expectations and to play with the Sedins and he had the biggest fall off and not to mention the contract was for 6 years lol

  31. SpaceLionW

One of my favourite all time hockey players and childhood hero, Trevor Linden.

    I’m so sorry.
