  1. If he doesn't re-sign, Sweeney should be let go immediately. Getting nothing and a bad contract for Linus and not having this done is potentially crippling to our rebuild.

  2. Joe and I rarely agree but on the topic of Jeremy Swayman's contract, we're in lockstep

No position in professional sports falls off a cliff more than that of goalie in the NHL

That's not even getting into the fact that Jeremey Swayman hasn't won anything and the only on playoff series win on his belt came against the soft, never wins a round in the playoffs Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jeremey Swayman has yet to even play 50 regular NHL season games in a singular season let alone win a 2nd round playoff series.

Homers, don't start in as I agree that Jeremy Swayman looks like a true number one goalie. However, why have the Bruins primarily failed to win in the playoffs under Don Sweeney since 2015?

They haven't been big enough, physical enough and they've had to continue to rely on one or two guys scoring in the post season and when those guys went cold, they got torched

Defense and goaltending haven't been issues for Boston and they wouldn't be with or without Jeremey Swyaman on their roster.

Also, let's not forget Don Sweeney's biggest downfall has. been overpaying free agents in either money, term or both. The salary cap will continue to go up and even more money will be coming off Boston's books next year. Thus, the last thing the Bruins need to be doing right now is handing out any bad contracts to any player

Should Swayan and his agent decide to hold out, the Bruins should just put him on the trade block, to if anything, see what he's worth. If all that pivot fails to produce the desired results maybe it'll just bring the agent back to the table at worst or generate an offer the Bruins may not be able to refuse from another team

Again, I'd rather the Bruins sign Swayman but giving him an 8-10 year deal at $8-$10M right now may not turn out to be the best idea.

Also, whose to say that Joonas Korpisalo couldn't put up the kind of numbers he's posted in the past?

So, in 2022-23 season Korpisalo posted a .913 save% in his 28 starts for Columbus and a .921 save% in his 11 starts for Los Angeles. In the 2019-20 season in his 37 games for Columbus he posted a 2.60 GAA alongside a .911 save%

Those aren't elite numbers but with an elite Boston defense team in front of him that also plays good two-way hockey across the board, isn't it at least a possibility that Korpisalo can put those kind of save% numbers up for Boston?

Fro the record an elite NHL starting goalie save% is considered .920 or above while the average NHL starting goal save% being .904

If Jeremy Swayman could return a legit, young, elite, number 1 center (preferably) or wing and or multiple 1st round draft picks while ALSO HOMERS, refusing to play for Boston unless he gets "X" and nothing less than "X" and that "X" isn't something Boston is willing to do…..

Trade Swayman and move on if that comes to fruition. Again, the best case scenario would be taht they sign him either to a reasonable bridge or long term contract but if they can't……

It's not as if Jeremy Swayman has proven the Bruins can ride him to a Cup. Swayman has never played more than 44 regular season games and the only playoff series he's ever won was against F.N. Toronto

    So….

The reality of the situation is before the puck drops in the regular season there's a 99% chance the Bruins would have signed Jeremey Swayman, thus all of this is just white nosie for the sake of white noise because the NHL is the dead zone in terms of their off season

  3. I don't want a goalie at 8 million per year….I don't care if it's tretiak….goalies get injured all the time … Get a serviceable one for 4 million and call it a day
