Lots of people will complain he is older and not going to be here long term, but really I don’t see a problem with that. Gudas plays with some snarl and sends the message that Verbeek wants more of that. Plus there is no rush to hand the captaincy to one of the young guys, let them continue to work on their games the next couple years and when Gudas’s contract is up it can be passed off to a younger player.
I don’t know about this. He’s clearly a leader and a great voice for the kids, but let’s be real, he’s not going to be on this team forever. He absolutely deserves the A, but I’m not sold on the C.

I can get behind this. He would be a bit of a stopgap but it wouldn’t force any of the youngins to step up as they continue to grow as players and people.

Unless there was another drop, Friedman didn’t say that he’s going to be the next captain. He was speculating that he might because Anaheim sent him as their representative to the North American media tour. I believe Terry was our representative last season and he’s not captain either. That was just speculation from Friedman.
I don’t get this at all. He’s aggressively mediocre.

. In my own opinion, i think the rightful short-term captain should be Cam Fowler. He’s been our broke and beaten work horse for a decade. His play is not what it used to be, but this is a guy who loves Anaheim and wants to be here. Hes been an assistant captain for years, not based on his play but his leadership. He’s always so calm and cool on the ice, absolutestand-upp professional off the ice. I would love it if they made him captain until his deal is up 25/26 and figure it out then. For what hes put into this team, i think he’s the right choice for a bridge year captain. Plus, Captain Cam has a nice ring to it.
