   Need to get 3 years at under 4m with Mercer. That brings us to the end of Palat’s deal. Dillon will also expire that year with Silayev coming in on an ELC. 3 years makes the most sense for both sides financially long term. Devils will have cap at that time to pay Mercer and Mercer can keep improving over the next 3 years to earn his big payday

   I imagine it’s over term but « not close » isn’t what I wanna hear. Not panicked, but the dial went up a notch.

   How far apart could they really be? Mercer wants 4.5aav @ 2 years and Fitz is offering a 3×3? I can’t see the numbers being further apart. No way he is asking for 5 mil right?

   I was watching/tuning in on this, not really want to hear this type of update though. Hope both parties realize how good they will be when they agree.

   How are we « not close » on Dawson freaking Mercer. Dude is an RFA after stepping backwards this past season, and he is not a superstar.

   I can’t see Fitz straight up lowballing so… it’d be one thing to say « struggling with difference in term length » or whatever, but * »not close »*??? Really?

   Don’t get me wrong because I love Dawson… but c’mon dog.
