I do think this team is a lot better than the team that showed up last season. They learned how to play a much better defensive game, now have a legit stud goalie, and have the potential to rediscover their offensive power that they showed last season. They brought in an entire new 4th line that will wear other teams down with speed and grit, which should allow their top 6 to freely play the way they did the previous season when they were one of the best offenses. I think this team could surprise under Lindy Ruff. It will also help if Thompson doesn't play on the PK again (which is how he broke his wrist last season while blocking a shot on the PK).

As a fan I want so badly to have them 3rd or 4th but I can’t. Not enough offseason improvements were made. They’ve reached a point where I won’t have faith until the drought is actually broken. I love my team and hope they can do it, but it’s gonna be a hard battle
The Sabres improved a bit at home in 2023-24 to slightly over .500. But they need to be better for any chance at the playoffs and the arena will be even more empty attendance wise than it was last year.

I don’t know if Sabres management are even trying to make the playoffs this season. The Atlantic is uber stacked and Buffalo just keeps buffaloing.

Without real leadership, be it coach or be it player, you'll always look good on paper.
Been a fan of the team since their inception. The Sabres have always had players with hockey talent, but they've rarely had players with physicality. In other words, they can get pushed around. If they want to get to the playoffs this season, they need to add at least one power forward (more would be better). Some more grit on the blue line wouldn't hurt either.
My prediction? They'll be in the wild card chase again this season and squeak into the playoffs on the last day.
If they get off to a slow start they aint making the playoffs

Think they need a stay at home defenseman to let the young guys add to scoring not sure who is still available for that but I think this team should be playoff bound this year, so young and talented
