Same problem as always, no grit. Top lines have zero toughness and that always means early bounce in play offs. Sparkly socks ain't gonna win a cup
I think the future for our team is bright. We have cap flexibility and a ton of young talent to build around I really would love for our team to do what Mike Grier and the San Jose Sharks did and go all in trading and in FA next season and get some players that can help your team win now while stockpiling on draft picks and prospects. A lot of great players in FA & in the draft next year (Michael Misa is still the guy I want on our team). Andrei Kuzmenko, Cody Glass, K'andre Miller, Daniel Sprong & Mackenzie Blackwood are all guys I personally like and are free agents next season. All are reasonable/affordable contracts and I'd really like for our team to go after them. Chevy is a moneyball type of GM and our team is a moneyball team can see him doing that. There was also this trade proposal that involved the Red Wings were it involved trading Nikolai Ehlers to the Wings for Jonatan Berggren, Dmitri Buchelnikov, their 2025 first round draft pick and 2026 first round draft pick. If that offer is still on the table, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Also, when will Yager be eligible to join our team?

There’s a saying in the NFL “you give the 1st contract, you give the 2nd contract, you never give the 3rd contract.”
Three years from now I would project Lambert, Barlow and Yager on the team. Perhaps on the same line. Jets are missing a true power forward who excels in the tough playoff environment. The Jets also require more grit on the backend. Using the Panthers as a model, the Jets have a ways to get to that level.
You always want to not resign any big names. These guys are the ones that want to actually stay here.
about a year ago, once helly and mark were signed, everyone was saying the window was that year and next (meaning 23/24 and 24/25) Now, everyone is saying this year(24/25) is a wash and it is going to be the next two that will matter 25/26 & 26/27). Maybe this is how we cope
