I personally think a combination of Laughton and Vatrano would put this team up over the hump for sure. Combined those guys make approx 7Mil. So would need to save SOME salary retained on one of them.
I wonder if the Ducks would be suitors for Robertson, Could a Robertson 1st be enough to land Vatrano @ 50% retained? Vatrano IS a expiring UFA so i doubt shanahan allows that as it seems like after oligno they have shyed away from rentals weho cost a pretty penny.

to me thats the deepest and most balanced the leafs have been in a long time. and should have zero problem passing the first round. To me Treliving HAS to do what needs to be done to get those 2 guys. if not now. At the deadline.

Leafs don't need a small forward who doesnt engage in any physical play. Already have Marner. The Leafs need another big winger who can hit, dig in the corners and score occasionally. Robertson can score, but hes weak in every other area.

Let him sit out. The reality is with his injury history, I don't envision teams lining up offer the leafs anything useful. If I'm the GM, I'm telling him he can show up to camp, complete for the position, show you can play an entire season, hopefully score 20 goals, and I'll happily trade you next year when someone is willing to offer something useful. He can do that or he can sit and watch.
