I hate how these are getting won by the first answer and not necessarily the best answer, should have one day to compile the possibilities and one day to have a poll with equal voting time for all answers
Erika Wachter if she was still with us
Currently Simon Nemec
Hughes
Most potential would have to be someone currently on the roster, so I would have to go with Nemec. He had a solid rookie season, but he has so much more to show. I mean, Mercer is fine, and Luke Hughes is also good, but I love to see a solid defensive defenseman grow!
Luke Hughes. Pencils down. Better than Quinn within this season! My humble opinion.
Also love the Erika Wachter suggestion, but she hasn’t been on the scoresheet!
Nemec’s defense is at a place now where we’re hoping Luke’s is at 23.
Add in his offensive potential and its easily Nemec.
There really isnt any answer other than Luke or Nemec.
Luke Hughes.
Solid rookie season… dropped into the frying pan – so to speak – due to injuries with our other Dmen throughout the season. Luke often had to go toe-to-toe with some of the leagues best forwards and stood his ground.
Kid took an absolute beating some nights and still played all 82 games last season. I can see him being a taller, bigger Quinn in a very short amount of time.
L. Hughes
Jack Hughes
Going with Nemec for the complete package he could become. Like up there with some of our greatest if he pushes and develops like he can which is saying a lot given our history of great defenseman.
Nemec has the higher floor and is ahead of Luke right now, but Luke has the higher ceiling. His skating ability is unparalleled in the Eastern Conference for d-men.
It’s Jack Hughes. Yes. Not Luke. Jack. He is a young Patrick Kane but he has to stay healthy. We all saw Hall stay healthy the one year and he won the MVP. Hughes and Hischier need to project and realize as modern versions Kane and Toews.
Hughes projects better than what he did in 22-23. He should win at least one Hart in his career for him to truly realize his potential.

Ok I missed the worst player but could someone explain how it wasn’t Mark Fayne??
Jacob josefeson
I for one am thrilled that there’s half a dozen players I could pick
Wanted to say Jesper, but I really thinks it’s J Hughes
Luuuuuuke
Jack since it’s so early in his career
Lukie boy
Jack. Floor is Patrick Kane, ceiling is better than Gretzky
*shut up and let me have this*
I’m looking at this from a slightly different angle than most of the responders. I’m thinking the guy in question had the most potential and then something happened to derail it or make it so he otherwise didn’t reach the heights he maybe should have.
And to that end my answer is Zach Parise.
That assholes number should be getting retired in Newark. Instead he’s a fucking nobody to 3 different fanbases. Fuck you, mamas boy.
The answer is Luke Hughes by a wide margin. Nemec has a safer floor, but Luke’s physical tools are off the charts.
