10 mil is too much and the only reason it is even in the conversation is because he knows he has Boston by the nuts once they let Ullmark go before signing Sway, dumb dumb move. You only give 10 mil to guys who you KNOW can win you a cup, who have already proven worthy. Sway might get there, but that is just a might. He's not far off. But at 10 mil, if he regresses at all or has multiple playoff failures in a row he then becomes untradable without eating some salary. 8 x 3 is the best I would offer and then if he proves himself finish him off with 10 x 6 I guess. Only guys who deserve 10 right now are getting it in Vas & Bob, except Igor who sure as hell would LOVE Sway to get 10 lol.
Money isn't everything…if Sway is offered $10mil per for 7 years by a bottom-dwelling team, is that better than $7.5mil per for 5 years playing for one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference? So instead of the limited edition Lamborghini, he has to settle for the regular production model, but has a 5 times better chance of winning a Stanley Cup.
Well, he was very vocal about being negatively impacted by the arbitration system the Bruins put him through, so I think he genuinely does want to get the highest # possible bc in theory that should raise the value for other goaltenders along with a lot of other perks, obviously. They tried to pay him the lowest possible # at one point in time, now he's simply flipping the script & returning the favor. As they say, don't hate the player, hate the game… And he's just playin the game. I could be wrong tho 🧐.
I'm a Finnish Bruins fan and it pains me to say that Korpisalo is nowhere near good enough to be our #1 goalie. We need Swayman but I also think that he is definitely not worth 10 million salary. Therefore I fully agree that this could get really ugly for Bruins
Ive been a Bruins fan my whole life and while Swayman Isn’t a Tim Thomas or Tuuka now, but he just may be soon. We all knew that the duo was likely to split after this offseason where Jeremey dominated. You just can’t have two top goalies, we’re all very anxious to see what happens as we need a solid tender. Hell give him the ten million before he packs his bags and goes elsewhere
I'm a Habs fan and there's almost nothing I like more than watching the Bruins lose, but this guy is a star and deserves star money. He's not a rookie anymore. He's started 125 games over 4 seasons and his numbers have been nothing short of amazing. This isn't an Andrew Hammond situation where he's only played good for a few months of his career and has nothing else to show for it. Star goalies are the most rare players in this league, and the Bruins would be idiots for not locking him up long term.
Correct me if I’m wrong he’s coming off a tandem year as Ullmark is the 1A and he’s more of a at best a 1B so by that metric 4-6 is what he should dictate? Idk where he’s getting 8.5-10 from if ullmark is the first choice? He’s great don’t get me wrong but he’s not a game changer system breaker like say shersturkin or Vasalesky…
He is pissed about what the Bruins presented during arbitration last year and his experience of it. Now he is, "I am going to get paid as much as I possibly can." It would have saved the Bruins a lot of money to negotiate a deal last year, rather than take him through arbitration. The bruins also screwed themselves by trading their other good goalie before signing this contract. The bruins have a weak fall back position.
Swayman deserves 10 m. He has been right at the top of the NHL for 3 yrs. Other goalies with lower stats and wins make double figures he is due what he deserves. Boston lowballed him 2 yrs ago on a bridge and they keep doing it again, Swayman should sign a 1yr deal and walk next summer. many teams will get in line to sign him
i was the a thousandth like also crazy that bruins that might not be able to play with out there core piece not saying kropisalo isnt good but he is in no way as good as sway
Oh please, this $10M "rumor" comes from a Boston Radio "personality" who just so happened to have dropped that nugget from his anonymous "sources" on the very first episode of his new show…. What do you really think is going on there?
Sway just said last week he was confident they would get a deal done and now he's saying he knows his comparables. Well, his most recent comparable is Jusse Saros (who I would argue should be making more than Sway at this point in each's career) who got $7.75M. Obviously Sway is expected to get better over the course of his contract while Saros is only really expected to be as good as he has been for as long as possible so, I would expect Sway's contract to be a little higher but $10M is completely asinine.
The distinction he is making in this conversation is in contrast to last year when he went through arbitration. Which he has said he hated because of how he felt diminished by the people who want him to succeed (The GM and President of Hockey ops). He is now stating that he understands the business aspects of the negotiation and to not take it personally but, to take it seriously because as he said, it's his Family he is fighting for.
Ok pal, you had a pretty good season as your first year as a starter, nobody knows if your going to have that same consistency for 5-8 more years, you're not getting 10 mil/yr

Would you rather pay Swayman or play against him?

I could be wrong tho 🧐.
Sway had a
2.15 GAA this playoffs- second best amongst goalies with at least 6 games played.
0.933 save % this playoffs- best amount goalies with at least 6 games played.
He was also top 8th in GAA this regular season
And 5th in save % this regular season.
I think he’s the best goalie in the league rn, and I wouldn’t pay him 10 million.
I thought the whole reason they let Ullmark go was so they could pay Swayman. Curiouser and curiouser.
Cant believe these comments saying he hasn't proven himself. Are you guys even watching the NHL?
At this rate, the Bruins are really going to struggle in the 2nd round of the playoffs (after knocking out the Leafs in Rd 1, natch).

Montréal fan here Never sign goalie to one of the top paid. You cant afford good players to put around him

10 MILLION IS FCKING WILD for swayman we got Hellebuyck 2 time vezina winner in 4 years for way less

He is worth 4-6 ish and Bs run two goalies again throughout the season. Wouldnt pay for a goalie like that
Swayman should ask and get $10M. C'mon Boston, quit being so cheap and ripping off your players

The Bruins are in the middle of a downturn
Ottawa should pick him up, too so we can continue the patented "hug" with Ullmark
Exactly why I was surprised Swaymen was kept over Ullmark
Watching this with popcorn
Trading Ullmark to keep swayman and then losing away man would be the biggest L
Its starting to look like they should have kept Ullmark
He's worth the money Price and Bobrovsky signed for yrs ago before the cap went up. It's simple logic with that when you look at his career stats.
the Jeremy Jacobs effect : give us a discount or else
Swayman : i'm gone baby
Bruins might inflate goalies, lets see how ullmark works in ottawa

I just don't see any other team giving him 10M either, it's just them playing hard ball right now.
Fake news… lol he will sign dont worry
Bro ain’t helping the stereotypes about being Jewish 💀
The whole team needs an overhaul, starting with the Rat!
Goalie with no history asking for 10m is brutal
As a Flyers fan, I feel he should be asking the Bruins for even more. Maybe like $15 mil….. yeah, that sounds good.
Good move by Swayman, start high and settle around $7 mill per season.

Swayman to the Habs Win Hughes gets him for a second round pick 🤣🤣7millons per year

Eck, i love you, but this take is dogshit
As a goalie(well, was), I find it offensive that you only have GOALS in a video about a goalie contract. Offended! 😀
