It’s nice to be part of something. I’m usually just a loser on my own. In all seriousness, I bet Gaudreau was one on the few bright spots for Laine while on that team.

The whole situation is beyond tragic, you couldn’t even write a sadder loss if you tried.

A sister loses two brothers right before her wedding,

A wife and two young kids lose a husband and father,

An expecting mother loses *her* partner and an unborn kid never even has a chance to meet their dad,

Parents and family lose two children and loved ones,

A team loses their friend and teammate and the league loses their fellow player (and friend too no doubt), who by all accounts was an amazingly kind, generous and humble person.

All while their family are in town for what was supposed to be a time of celebration. Not even mentioning an immensely talented and hardworking athlete who should have had the chance to continue a hockey player’s dream of being an NHL star, and enjoy the results of what is a one-in-a-million chance of making it to the NHL in the first place.

All because someone was too selfish to call a fucking cab. A $30 ride would have prevented so many lives from being ruined and changed forever, including the offender and their family too.

Call a ride. If not for your own sake then for the sake of those who you put in harm’s way when you choose to drive intoxicated.

    Goddamn, man.
