1. Mercer will sign. He's an RFA, so he's not going anywhere. I am sure the holdup is over term. I am speculating, but I think that he would want a 1 – or 2-year bridge deal as where Fitz wants to lock him up for 4 or more years.

  2. Holtz is another example of Fitzgerald's failure. The guy cannot draft, cannot trade. All he does is signing UFAs to big contacts . Worst GM in the history of the sport

  3. Honestly I'm not really sure what's going on with mercer. I not going to speculate or pretend I know but I really hope he signs and if not trade him for something we need now but hopefully it won't come to that, so I am clueless just like a lot of people

  4. Awesome to still be in the top 10 but we do definitely need a few more forwards in the pipeline for when we’re against the cap and need production on ELCs. Not a huge deal but I am a bit higher on Casey than a few guys ahead of him and agree he would be a good piece for a trade unless one of our roster defensemen are moved in next couple of years

  5. Ace, you are a content monster! You post regularly, sometimes in more than once a day, and all your topics are interesting. That in itself is remarkable. Keep the content coming, and Thanks again.

  6. I would like to see Luke work on his first pass out of the D zone. Too many times last season he thought he could get a pass through a forechecker (or didn't see the opposing player) that had disastrous results. Also, hopefully he has been hitting the gym (heard Ole Lindy never made them last year) if Luke could do those two things this year he will take a huge step in reaching his potential, IMO.

  7. About players represent the country like Slovakia, although I would much more prefer to have healthy Nemec then representing my country I would like to point that it is very important for our country hockey to be competitive because majority of young Slovakian players first introduction to hockey as a kids it's Slovakia playing world championship or Olympics, for those two events our whole nation is about hockey and everyone is watching and everyone talks about hockey.
I can understand why people from USA or Canada might see this type of tournaments as pointless but without this pivotal hockey inspiration we would miss out on plenty of you😮ng talent in Slovakia.

  8. One other thing relating to a previous video. I hope the team sticks up for Nico this year. I'm tired of other teams taking liberties with our captain.

  9. I’m surprised that Gritsyuk isn’t in the top 7 or even among the honorable mentions. He’s been performing quite well in the KHL, so seeing Hameenaho listed ahead of him is a bit perplexing.

Looking ahead, I believe we might be on the brink of a new golden era for our defense. With players like L Hughes, Nemec, Silayev, and Casey in the mix, there's a solid chance that this group could evolve into an exceptional defensive unit, even if not all reach their ceiling. Meanwhile Jack Hughes, Bratt, Hischier, Meier, etc, should continue to provide our signature elite core four, and we have enough "good enough" forward prospects that I'm not too worried about filling out an effective bottom six.

The key challenges will be our future goalie and finding another top-six forward or two. But these are doable through a combination of drafting, trades, and FA, if we are smart. Think of the Dallas Stars’ trajectory: they were a powerhouse during the Benn-Seguin era, then regrouped to continue being contenders with their current roster of Heiskanen, Robertson, and others.

    Great content as always, Ace!
