Look, I’m an Oilers fan. But more than that, I’m an Albertan, and more than that, I’m a Canadian. I’ll shit on Calgary when it comes to the rivalry, whether that’s Oilers/Flames or Stampeders/whatever they call the Eskimos now.
I remember cheering for the Flames in ’04. It was in!
And while I prefer Edmonton, sports aside, I still love Calgary. Calgary is family the exact same way Edmonton is.
Seeing the outpouring of love, the beautiful memorial laid on the dome. It reminded me why I love Calgary, and Alberta, and Canada.
We talk a lot of shit, but when the chips are down, we’re there for eachother.
I can’t imagine what the Gaudreau family is going through. Such a senseless tragedy. I just hope they take some solace in the undying love that Alberta has for them. Johnny (and Matthew) Hockey will never be forgotten. ♥️🖤
