Although he’s my favorite player of all time I’d have to go with Alexei Kovalev. He just could never take that next step with us. Best hands I’ve ever seen. Big, fast, strong, laser beam of a wrist shot, could stick handle in a phone booth, but never broke out till he left.
Manny Malhotra
Vitali Kravtsov or Lias Anderson
Nikolai Zherdev
Dan Blackburn
Lundmark/Brendl was way too excited about those two
Alexei Cherepanov, RIP
Cherepanov had more points than Evgeni Malkin, Alexander Ovechkin, and Ilya Kovalchuk did respectively, at the age of 17. Cherepanov beat the Russian league rookie goal scoring record previously held by Pavel Bure.
Can I suggest JT Miller? Clear potential, a couple 20 goal seasons. But never broke into the top line as a Ranger. Ends up as Canucks top liner and becomes a point per game player.
McIlrath
If we’re talking untapped potential while with us, maybe Jonathan Marchessault? It took him a bit to break out, and we’ve seen what he’s done with Tampa Bay, Florida, and Vegas.
Michael Sauer
Definitely want to go with Cherepanov. A draft pick we never got to see come to fruition. Man who knows what those early 2010s teams could have been.
Rest in Peace.
Well according to this sub a few years ago….Kravstov
It is JT Miller to me. I try not to think about what would have happened if he was this good when a NYR.

Sammy Blais or Nick Bonino
Gaborik, could’ve been the goal scorer we needed in 2014, but Torts had him blocking shots like Jed Ortmeyer
Kakko in recent memory. JT miller in the recent past.
Sauer. Seemed like he could’ve been such a special player and then one day it was all over. really sad.
Cherepanov… RIP.
If we’re talking players who actually played on NYR
Sauer comes to mind. JT Miller as well.
Honestly… feel like if we move on from kakko he’s gonna go tear it up on another team
JT Miller
We’re in the middle of it right now w Kakko. I hope he pulls a Laffy and lights the hockey world on fire this year. LGR
Not gonna win, but honorable mention Fedor Federov
Oscar Lindberg. Thought he could have been an excellent 3rd line center.
Peter Nedved. Luc Robitaille
