Hopefully he can take time and recover and return to form. I think this may be additional by subtraction for this years d core though.

I just did a victory dance. Best for everyone. He gets the surgery on the teams dime, gets to retire, and we get the cap space. Hope all goes well for him.

Probably LTIRetirement for Krug. Hope his recovery goes well.

Really disappointed for Krug. Hope he’s able to bounce back.

Had to know this was coming.. especially after the Broberg acquisition

Feel bad for Krug, the person, but this can really turn into a huge win for the Blues from a cap standpoint.

I’ll always remember him trucking RobThom in the STF, and later wondering where THAT Krug was when he wore the note. A somehow fitting end to a strange saga. I wish him the best in recovery and after, but this is undeniably a great outcome for the Blues.

I hope his surgery goes fine and I hope we’ll never see him again on ice.

What was his cap hit this year? We were like $400k away from the limit, so that frees up $$ for a signing or a Neighbors extension at EOY correct?

We basically traded Krug, a 2nd, and a 3rd for Broberg and Holloway.

Does DA target getting another D now?  Or was Broberg enough?

  13. Linkbowler

Yo, that frees up enough money to re-sign Scandella!

    (/s, obviously)

Do we think this could potentially lead to retirement? What do Blues do with the potential cap space?

More like career ending. Arthritis is no joke, there is no cure for it. If its progressed to the point of needing surgery, he’s most likely done. That really sucks.

Hard not to say it’s a huge W for the team though. Great off-season.

Sucks for Krug, but hopefully the Blues can do something with this in the future.

I’m not sure what our updated cap is at, but I know that Army has said he wanted to have cap flexibility going into the season, so I don’t think there will be any further moves at this time. I’m sure Army will comment on this at some point in the future.

Didn’t we know this in June? Sadly, I think it’s general consensus that he has played his last NHL game

Do we have the ability as a community to recognize this guy was obviously dealing with this and it impacted his performance greatly?

While this does give the Blues’ with some nice cap relief, his 40 points are not going to be easy to replace. I really hope Perunovich takes a big step this year and successfully QB’s the powerplay. I’m also hopeful Faulk has a bounce back year.

Let’s goooo but in all seriousness I hope for a speedy recovery.
