Having an extra decent back up option is never bad. Silvos doesn’t need waivers as far as I know so if he goes down to the AHL to get more seasoning that’s not the worst plan. Injuries are inevitable so it’s likely he’ll be called up to play again before too long.

He is actually a good back up with borderline starter potential.

I think the Canucks are in a pretty good spot here. Lankinen probably doesn’t have other offers. Training camp is starting soon. Canucks are a contender and he can be the backup on a team with Cup aspirations, if Demko is out for a while or gets re-injured, Lankinen could end up getting a solid chunk of games to showcase for a contract with more security next off-season.
If Raanta wasn’t made of glass I’d like him as a backup too… sure he wasn’t great last year but his overall body of work throughout his entire career.
Waiver-wire wise, two of Rittich, Copley, Kahkonen and Comrie will on waivers. LA and WPG have clear starters and 2 NHL level goalies behind.
Jones I’d prefer to avoid. Trades, they could pronounce acquire a guy like Lyon for a mid-round pick.

Can never have too much depth. Having Silovs as your 3rd string is pretty insane depth. The 3rd string who almost took care of the Western Champs.

Lankinen is solid, I remember him putting up decent numbers on a very bad blackhawks team.

Is Tolopilo not on a two way contract? Seems odd that he is never in the discussion.

Makes a ton for sense to get Lankinen, or claim a goalie off of waivers, especially given Demko’s durability concerns.
Theres just too much uncertainty for a playoff team with Silovs, Patera and Tolopilo. We dressed 3 goalies last season, 4 the year before, and 4 the year before that. Arty will get NHL games.

This run of info makes it seem like Demko is rushing back to be ready for the season lol. Not sure that’s a good idea for someone with his injury history
