Bien qu’il y ait probablement des choix plus faciles pour Fowler, surtout avec son plafond salarial, je pense que si les Ducks sont prêts à conserver un salaire important (35-50 %) pendant 1,5 saison, il pourrait être quelqu’un vers qui les Rangers se tourneraient comme solution de rechange, surtout lors de la saison 2025-26 à court de plafond salarial et avec l’incertitude de Lindgren et Trouba l’été prochain.
À première vue, un coup d’œil sous le capot semble difficile, avec presque tous les matchs à 5 contre 5 dans le rouge. Mais le contexte est essentiel. Fowler a joué 24 minutes par soir dans une équipe des Ducks qui avait très peu de stabilité en dehors de lui et de Radko Gudas, ce qui a empiré avec l’échange de Drysdale en milieu de saison. Son rôle aux côtés de Gudas était de prendre en charge certains des affrontements les plus difficiles et de permettre à des joueurs comme Mintyukov, Zellweger et Lacombe de faire du surplace.
Chez les Rangers, Fowler serait plus en phase avec 18 à 20 minutes par soir. On pourrait lui voir un rôle similaire à celui de la Floride avec OEL, à un prix similaire d’environ 3,25 à 4 millions de dollars par match en fonction du maintien du plafond salarial.

As much as I can sympathize with the fact that NYR needs an upgrade on defense, there are many little things that are being overlooked looked with this hypothetical scenario here.
Does Fowler want to be in NY, what would it cost trade wise to get him here retained or not, how would NYR fit him under the cap, where in the lineup would he play, what would happen to Jones, what does having Fowler in the lineup for an extra year mean for the cap hits of Laf and Miller and Igor or the much needed RW that everyone else in here is talking about. All of that also doesn’t take into account that this trade would be taking place between two of the most stubborn GMs in the league.
