« Tout le monde est gagnant » : Button sur la prolongation de Draisaitl | Jay sur SC

Craig Button, directeur du dépistage de TSN, rejoint SC avec Jay Onrait pour partager pourquoi il croit que la nouvelle prolongation de huit ans de Leon Draisaitl avec les Oilers est une victoire pour les deux parties, et ce que cela pourrait signifier pour l’avenir de Connor McDavid à Edmonton.

  1. how much money does one need … really ? Anyhow congrats . The Stanley Cup coming to Edmonton wears even more thin now . Its about getting all the depth players that take you to hoisting the Stanley Cup that they will not be able to afford . Edmonton now is in the same category as the maple laughs and there run with the Matthews era . Montreal on the other hand is doing things the right way and having everyone share the piece of the pie . That team is stacked and deep and are going to attract RFA's . And the thing is Montreal will be able to sign them cause they dont have over half of the salary cap locked up in 4 or less players they are the team to watch turn things around . Toronto, Edmonton and even Calgary with the 2 horrible contracts there are all fooked up . Mind you Edmonton has a decent chance to win this year but after that . they will have too many holes to fix and will only be a sub par wanna be contending team .

  2. Lol. Looks good for the 1at 3 or 4 years then its an incredible boat anchor. Once a guy hits 35ish its mostly down hill and certainly not worth 14 m/yr.

  3. When you have a top 5 player in the world on your team; you try to keep that player.

8 years is the big part of the contract. The cap will likely rise significantly over the next 8 years.

Draisaitl has world class talent and his skill will hold up to the later years of a NHL player.

  4. Draisaitl was always going to be the top cap hit AND it’s an 8 year deal. It should age fine. Don’t forget you had him for a bargain the last 6 years too so he definitely deserves the significant raise.

  5. Anyone saying it’s too much money, well just look at the amount the Blues just paid for two players that haven’t proven anything.

  6. Never ask Button for his opinion.
He once said the 2021 playoff Habs wouldn’t even win 1 game against the Leafs.
We all know what happened next… 🙃🙃

  7. The problem I have with Draisaitl is that he doesn't always hustle. He's not a Sid. He's not putting in the time in the offseason to be in peak shape, so he won't last as long at such a high level.

  8. It's a lot of money, but the dude is an absolute monster every time he's in the playoffs, even when injured.

  9. Mcdavid is worth way more money as he was the one doing the work in the Stanley cup finals while draistsailte didn’t do much but I get it

  10. Its really too bad they couldnt win a cup in the last 3 seasons, but man they had to dig out from the dumpster fire Chia left them in.
Where's Chia now? Oh look, hes in St Louis! 😂😂😂😂

  11. I hope Edmonton enjoyed that fluke playoff run last year. Will be the closest they get to a cup anytime soon with these horrible contracts they keep giving out.

  12. 32% of salary cap will be for McDavid and Draisatl. That's insane. They putting all their eggs in one basket. But Button is the king of bad takes…

  13. It’s great he stays and good for him, but who pays really? What will it cost for a guy taking his kids to a game?

  14. On point analyzed! The cap will grow and 70 mio should be really enough for good young prospects and older Routiniers. And Leon is the type of player who will also perform very well in his "best" ages!
