It’s Sakic, but MacK could get there.

Can we just put in Sakic and skip the vote? Absolutely no disrespect to any of the other amazing Avs we’ve had, but the way things currently stand this is a no brainer.

If not Sakic, it has to be Forsberg, maybe McKinnon

Peter The Great. Top 5 all time player IMO with a shortened career by injures

  5. goatcopter

Sakic. Roy and Forsberg are right there, but Joe is the guy.

As much as Peter was absolutely incredible, Joe wins this. If Peter had a longer career I’d say yes but I just can’t. My vote is Joe.

Sakic easy. If you think otherwise… You’re wrong

Joe « You don’t get to talk to Mr. » Sakic

Man, feels like Morris, Selanne and Jost would have been more deserving but I guess that’s what happens when you split the vote. A bit of disrespect for Barrie there.

Anyway of course this answer is Sakic

Might be a bit early to call it but I’m gonna have to go with Cale🥬

  11. It’s Sakic. But Foppa had the higher ceiling and I was always on the edge of my seat when he was on the ice. I gotta give an honorable mention shout out to Goulet and the OG “Peter the Great”/Stosh, both incredible players in the QC days of the franchise. I still think 16 and 26 should be up in the rafters.

My god I had to read this 6 times before I understood. I could not believe the amount of people calling Joe over rated.

    Sakic,

Nate and Cale can take the crown from him depending on how their careers play out.

Joe Sakic — it’s not even a competition. Great on the ice and in the office.

  15. Akboredguy

Definitely Joe Sakic. Close second would be Patrick Roy. Honorable mention: Adam Foote.

An argument could be made for Peter Forsberg, but it’s definitely Joe Sakic.

  17. inenviable

It’s obviously Sakic, and I say that as someone whose only jerseys are all Forsberg. There’s no question it’s super Joe.

Sakic made me an Avs fan when I was a kid. He was one of the longest tenured captains in history, is top 10 in points all-time, was respected even by the teams greatest rivals and will forever be remembered who gave Bourque the first cup lift of his career.

Oh also he built a cup team as a manager.

    No question.

  19. Peter Forsberg. Followed closely by Joe Sakic and Nathan MacKinnon.

  20. Joe Sakic.

If you’re talking about who the best player was at any point then it becomes more difficult with guys like Forsberg, MacKinnon, Makar, Roy, et all. But, best Av has to be Sakic for both his play and longevity and everything else.

There is a reason why the other team would put out their shutdown line against Forsberg. The reason is because he was freaking the most talented player on the team. I don’t care about longevity when he still had a HOF career. Best player is best player and that’s Forsberg.

there is no other answer here besides Burnaby Joe
