Saw someone saw we leave him out cause he’s still a very good player…. Nah fuck that, we saw him as the second coming, trash talked leafs fans saying he’s better than Matthews and the only thing Matthews is better at is scoring… One of those guys is consistently a top 5 centre in the league and it sure as fuck isn’t Eichel. We had the homer goggles on HAAAAAARRRRD and convinced ourselves a really good player was the next Messier to Gretzky (McDavid being this eras Gretzky).

The guy was adored while here and we need to balance out the ridiculousness that is saying he is the most underrated. Population of Pomminville signs were more popular than let’s go sabres fans when we had Vanek potting 40.
Actual answer should be Vanek or a guy like Brian Campbell.

He’s got a big career boost from playing with a freak like Tage and an elite 5-on-5 scorer in Jeff Skinner. In reality, he’s a solid middle six piece on the first line who somehow gets captain consideration because he was born in a city 2ish hours away form Buffalo.
