Build a ballpark and grab the Angels out of Anaheim, to keep a team in the AL West. Leave the Angels name in L.A. and re-name the club. Establish a water taxi system similarly used for NY Mets games to keep the maritime usage alive. Build townhomes for first responders and teachers who can use the water taxis. Negotiate a lease that will help pay for the homes. Do something great for the middle class, Oakland's great fans, and the terrific history of Oakland.
Paging Mr. Joe lacob please build a ballpark and convince Major League baseball to let you bring on a team please!!
I pray that we find a way to build a new stadium at either site.
The only thing I would add is hopefully the stadium would have an opening to see the sunset over the bay. I went to see the Orioles in Oakland this season and that was the only beauty I saw on my short trip from my hotel
Maybe they should build a hockey arena before the Sharks want to move.
I have no reason to subscribe due to region or even sports covered, but this content is so well made it’s a crime that the subscriber count isn’t higher. Subscribed.
I think it would be great to see a stadium there. It would have been great 3 years ago when the A's were in the conversation, but so it goes. If (and I'm still saying 'if' because NOTHING is in stone with that maniac John Fisher) the A's do move to Vegas, it would be nice if MLB granted the Oakland an expansion team, like Kansas City in 69.
John Fisher is a skid mark. He's taking that energy into Sacramento as we speak. It's already a mess. Vegas is a mess. Fisher sucks.
The Coliseum will be the stadium for the Roots and Soul. I will be going to some of their games next season. As for Howard Terminal, I'm hoping for something that could be essentially described as "urban Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk", ie a place that you can enjoy without being forced to spend through the nose.

How about a race track and create a sideshow league. Allow folks to come and hold legal sideshows and give out awards to the best at swingin.
TBH, with the feckless Oakland city government, and until they can get Schnitzer, or whatever they call themselves now – shut down and remediated (the full CERCLA treatment), it's hard to see Howard Terminal living up to a top flight destination standard. Imagine if you had that kind of odor near Pier 39 or Fisherman's Wharf…And the Coliseum site is going to be a nonstarter until they get the thuggery around Hegenberger and Fruitvale stopped. That requires an OPD fix, and I don't see that happening soon either…I am however, as much as I hate to see the A's go, very happy that John Fishwrap is getting removed from the equation. It still chaps everyone to no end that the A's pranced off with over a $100+ million of the taxpayers money from a sweetheart deal made under what most would conclude were fraudulent pretenses by said A's. Alameda County voters should invite those supes responsible to leave and never return…And indeed there is always the specter of that cabal of "concerned industrialists" (including Schnitzer, Union Pacific, the Longshoremen's Union, and others, that will try to keep that part of Oakland as decrepit as possible in their own best interests…
As longshoreman who works in San Diego and have seen these projects go up I've seen the maritime sector go down and I have to say to the longshoreman and the Bay area and to the companies Maritime companies keep fighting because if you lose that land you'll never see industry again it'll slowly dissipate just like it's doing in San Diego don't make the same mistake and be stagnant Brody I love you I love listening to you brother you are one heck of a reporter and I took my cat to you but I cannot side with you on this because I've seen it happen in my own port too many developers are here now and they are ruining the area people that are locals can't even load of the port without having to pay a high premium just to park and it goes against the port's mission statement everything was supposed to be open and free for the public and I know that Oakland is a working port those are good paying jobs with good livelihoods and I say open Howard terminal back up and get some more operations going and hire some more people bring good jobs good livelihoods back
Did I ever mention how much I appreciate this channel and your continued coverage of bay area sports adjacent news?
Thanks Brodie!
I thought Howard Terminal would be a great spot for the Oakland Ballers if they did not build their stadium
It's not the same without the A's
Let’s all remember that Fisher never negotiated in good faith. He was always looking for a way to get to Vegas. This site was clearly the perfect spot for the A’s to settle in to and had the most favorable financial outlook compared to the fiasco in Vegas.
I think Oakland will somehow screw this development up.
Show us JF financial. Did JF actually have the capital to build at HT. Or was it a way to leave Oakland.
