   It did not take long, however, for Kulich to see that he was going to have to become more than a specialist to excel with the Rochester Americans and eventually join the Buffalo Sabres.
   The message was delivered by former Amerks coach Seth Appert throughout Kulich’s rookie season in the American Hockey League. Kulich didn’t want to play defense. He didn’t see the point if he could score on any goalie. The reality, though, is that a shot is useless if a player can’t earn the time and space to use it in the offensive zone.
   Kulich saw during another postseason run with Rochester, and a brief stint with the Sabres, how much his game will need to evolve if he’s going to achieve his goal of being in the NHL when Buffalo opens the season in his home country, Czechia.

   >Probably be more physical, » Kulich said of his offseason goal. « With my strength coach, we had probably the best workouts this summer. And I was working on the net-front and (other on-ice drills to improve physicality) because I thought I’m just a shooter from the (one-timer) spot,” said Kulich. “I have to do the right things to be more physical, go net-front, don’t be scared to go net-front and be more of a physical guy. »
