The Hawks also value skating when selecting defencemen, but more so their range. Their top defensive prospects are long-limbed, bold players with developed footwork.

    I’m a little surprised to see Kantserov as low as he is, as he’s shown strong growth and production in the KHL (including playoffs), though I suppose I can understand the size concerns that may not allow him to translate to the NHL.

    End of the day I feel like I would side with his brain & skill over the physical tools & skating of the guys ranked 11-15, though Spellacy is a wildcard there due to being a freak athlete and having basically no real hockey-focused training yet lol

    Regardless, awesome to see the depth of the organization behind Bedard (and Vlasic)! Fucking stoked to see how the organization can develop and continue to add to this pool the next few years.

    I like the draft philosophy thus far. Another strong draft this summer and they should have most of the pieces within the organization. Just about patience and development at that point
